Admission at Rukmini Devi Public School - Pitampura

Hi all,

I was called today by school administration of Rukmini Devi Public School, Pitampura for a meeting for admission of my son in Pre- Primary. I was communicated that it is verification of documents and discussion with the chairman before the admission. I went with my wife and my son, while the meeting was short I and my wife were asked about our profession and qualifications and some other general information about our residence. Thereafter the gentleman whom we met directed us to the accounts person saying that you can check the fee structure and if that suits you then you can deposit the requisite fee and accomplish the admission formalities in next few days as we have limited seats.(Though no information on seats for Pre-primary were disclosed earlier at the time of form filling)

We met the accounts person and this is what he told us regarding the admission fee. They were pretty smart and  instead of providing anything in black or white the finance guy hand over to us a piece of paper to note down. The breakup told to me orally is as follows

1. Total Annual Tuition fee- 1,19,800 (INR) hence the per month fee works out to be 9983.33(INR)

2. Fee to be deposited at the time of admission- 40,000(INR)- It does not include any month's tuition fee payment but is also termed as tuition fee by the school

3. The balance i.e. 119800- 40000= 79,800(INR)  or 6,650(INR) pm is what they call as monthly tuition fee

4. Additionally 2,000(INR) pm or 24,000(INR) pa is for transport cost

5. The final disclosure was amazing that we have to pay Rs 50,000(INR) additionally as my son is being admitted into Pre- primary (since he will be 4+ in this month). This amount is on part of the reason my son has studied in different school(Play-school for an year)

So the Total annual cost works out to be 119800+24000+50000=1,93,800(INR) or 16150(INR) pm

So finally hearing about the exorbitant fee I thought that I should make other parents and forum aware about the same.

I don't recommend this school to anyone as this just seem to be a business institution and not an educational institution.

Well Aishwarya ji every institution is same they all do a business.. bt rukmini devi list is abt to cum on 20th .... they startd calling parents before d list is out...

Yes they have started calling parent as they want to tell them about the fee in person rather than displaying it on notice board.. but shweta ji. all schools r not like that I went to prabhu dayal school and found the system quite transparent unlike this school

Hi Aishwarya,

I have already faced this same story last to last year, when I was trying for my daughter's nursery admission. I tried for almost 30 schools in Pitampura and Rohini. I got call from around 10 schools. And mostly schools asked us to pay some heavy amount in CASH, for which the school will not provide any receipt. Rukmini Devi was also one of them. At this school, the way they were trying to get donation money from parents was so shocking and sad. Before that the image of this school to me was good, but the way its staff and its owner Mr. Garg himself, were asking for money from parents, I felt so bad, that i decided not to put my child in such a place were it only pure business. You would not believe but I have a half an hour video where Mr. Garg and its staff is openly asking for 50K cash without receipt. and i asked them what do you mean by this amount and they are clearly saying that its donation. They didn't know that I am making video, I thought of uploading that video on youtube, but then you know nothing happens to these big influential peoples. So I have just kept it to me only.

Hi Ramaoli ji..
Good that u commented on this thread..had u sent such an update last year itself..then many parents would have not applied for tis school.. the problem is that we think that nothing is gonna happen by pointing such bizzare incidents... and that is why such schools r minting money and harassing parents and there is no impact on their brand image in market....such updates in an era of internet connectivity definitely help public and put in requisite checks n balances... thanks again for replying..
