Yes Ratna they have specifically mentioned the date of lottery as 21st sept (but its Tantative will confirm by mail)and for orientation its 24 for those whose ward name is declared in draw.

May be timelines for Nursary and Playgroup will be different.

they told us that there will be two draws. one will be for the group that was called for PI today and that is most likely to be on the 21st but they will confirm by email/phone. if one gets selected, the orientation will be on the 24th (again this is not yet confirmed). so i guess the draw of lots for the second group will be later - after the PI for them.

Hi Ratna,

can you tell us more about the PI ...and did you learn anything more about the process after that

thanks

Hi Gaurav and Ratna ,

Yes our is for Nursary , that must be the differce though 2 parents for play group were also there.

PI just had the formality for depositing 2500/- for processing fee and round of quationer for both the parents in separate rooms.

questions were as follows

1 mention two places you have visited in the last 2 weeks along with the child. Share kids experience

2. share two memorable experiences from your childhood school

3. name 5 books your child love being read to

4. share couple of experiences where you were disappointed by the child's behavior. how did you handle the situation

5 Name 2 books u have read and how they influenced you.

6 What your child experiances more over any other experiance.

7 define following terms

   a)Education

   b)Discipline

Thats it Rest they said draw of lots will be on 21st most likely, after that on 24 orientation then 1 week of time to deposit fees.

Please note that they also said that the exercise is really for introspection for the parents. Do not worry yourself about the "right" answers. Just write what comes naturally to mind. They will not read the whole thing and there is no screening based on what you will write. Relax and go with the flow. There is no appropriate or inappropriate answer. Also, contrary to what some people say, your answers to question 3 DO NOT HAVE to match as a child may like to read different books with his/her dad and different ones with the mom. The important thing is to write what you know is true and what you feel is genuine.

Thank you so much Megha. These questions are common to a couple of other forms that we filled up.

It is interesting to see how both Heritage and Shikshantar have revamped their admission process this year. And both will be processing results pretty fast, atleast Heritage has openly specified the timeline. Next week is where they seem to be wrapping up admissions.

Abhishek a query please..... how are their meals to nursery kids.... I mean are they hot and the small kids have enough time to eat..... and did you find hygiene up to the mark..... there were some posts in years gone by regarding food and hygiene aspects of Shikshantar by a parent. Does the school have their own kitchen or are the meals outsourced ?

Another query or observation is that we have got very positive recommendation about Shikshantar as a good school for younger classes..... does anybody else have similar feedback...

Truely said Shireen...being natural and frank would be a better way anytime..but its strange they want parents to fill the form separately

My daughter studies in Shikshantar (Nursery) and we were also confused regarding the questionairre. However, as some have already pointed out, the answers are not used for selection. In fact, and I was pleasantly surprised, the school curriculum advisor discussed the answers with us, after we had completed the admission formalities, just to understand us as parents and the kid, from the parents' perspective. That they take it seriously is visible from the fact that its been more than 5 months, and the lady still remembers what we wrote. She even remembers the names of each of the kids who are there in pre-primary (every morning she is at the gate to greet and welcome them). So far, so good.

That is certainly a positive feedback. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the rest of us; it is so confusing to get the real picture when you are applying for the first time. May I trouble you with a couple of questions? One is regarding the teacher-parent interaction. When the parent has a concern about the child, are teachers good with listening to you and resolving the issue or is it mostly about what the teachers want and say? The other thing I would like to know is whether it was difficult for your child in the summer due to non A/C building? Thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate it.

Teacher-parent interactions have been pretty satisfactory. Since I drop and pick my child on my own, I get to interact with the teachers (Group didis as they are own) almost on a daily basis. They are receptive and helpful. Havent faced any issues as such. Regarding the AC, I think we end up being over-worked up about it. Its indeed hot in the sun but inside, though not ac, the school is pretty comfortable with its trees etc. Moreover, the best indicator of comfort are my daughter and other kids, who I find to be all, energetic, gungo ho and happy. I wouldn't say I wasnt concerned myself. We did not apply to some good schools simply bcoz they werent ac and here we were, hypocritical as it may sound, finding reason in why Shikshantar is a great school. In retrospect, I dont think I had a clue about the parameters to select a school on. Mostly, it was the reputation and/or the comfort of the child. It all matters if your child is happy in the learning environment. Mine is. So, I only have good things to say about Shikshantar. Am I better equipped to make a school selection? I dont know :-)

HI

Can someone please clarify - has anyone had a PI for playgorup yet. I filled up the form at 10 am on the first day it opened up and got a PI date of 9th of October - hence wondering about the sequencing of the PI sessions.

Thanks in Advance

Manoj

Manoj, from what I understand, the PI for the playgroup parents is in October. Somebody mentioned on the stream that there were a couple of playgroup parents present at the PI session that just happened. However, I didn't meet them. All the parents I interacted with were for Nursery. I may have just missed them. The school representative said there are more PIs scheduled. So, don't worry.
