Nursery Admissions in Delhi NCR 2024-25

Admission Dates | Admission Criteria | Compare schools | Fee Details

Hi everyone,

After joining this thread I am kind of getting a little nervous (a lot nervous) about the admission for our son in coming 2013-14 session.

Whatever little online research I have done by checking out some schools, their admission criteria and actual admissions last year are not giving me much to feel comfortable about.

I want help & tips on following:

1) We live in Army Hospital (R & R), Dhaula Kuan compound my wife is posted here and we would prefer a school towards south side like, Dhaula kuan, R K Puram or Vasant vihar. Which schools are good ones in south (names needed) keeping the location preference in mind?

2) Everybody is saying try  at least 10-15 schools but what should one do if someone does not get through in any of the preferred schools?

3) And the admission process is it all transparent? like in the first week of Jan'13 when the forms are out, we fill the form and submit them as required and wait for the lists and hope to get lucky?

4) Since we are new in Delhi so kind of feeling little out of place on this front.

All responses will be highly helpful for us.

Thanks

Thanks Sakshi for response.

1) I would not be comfortable with schools as far as GK or Saket

2) How do I check the eligibility? because as far as i know on point system i am on the lower grid because the only points I can think of are of location and first child. Tell me if there is anything else that I am not aware of regarding eligibility criteria.

Thanks

Hi Inderbir ji,

1. some of the sought after schools nearby your area (their nursery seats strength for general category vs total nos. is also given)and are:

DPS R K Puram- Junior schools East of Kailash (90/180)& Vasant Vihar(108/216),
DPS Vasant Kunj (87/175),
The Shri Ram Junior School Vasant Vihar (67/112),
Vasant Valley School Vasant Vihar (46/90),
Modern School Vasant Vihar (60/120),
DPS International Junior School Nursery to Grade V at R. K. Puram (41/75),
Bloom Public School Vasant Kunj (53/96),
Tagore International School Vasant Vihar (51/134),
Ryan International Vasant Kunj (96/175),
The Heritage School Vasant Kunj (40/72),
GD Goenka Vasant Kunj (75/150),
Chinmaya Vidyalaya Vasant Vihar (105/160),
Suraj Bhan D.A.V. Public School Vasant Vihar (60/100).

2. If one does not get his ward through a preferred school, then one can opt for an above average school in neighourhood in current session or keep his child in the play school for one more year and later try in preferred school in KG/Prep class.Idea is not to let waste child's one year.

In your case there are 2 very good armed forces schools nearby: The Army School, Ridge Road (admission from class 1st) and The Air Force School Subroto Park (admission from UKG class). Here ample reservation is for armed forces and you can try them next year and onwards.

3. Since these pvt. schools follow the admission guidelines laid out by DOE (Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi) and are liable to strictly adhere the RTE (Right to Education) Act we can presume & hope that they (must) follow a transparent manner in admitting the students in General & EWS categories.

Schools mostly follow a 5-6 point criteria with total 100 weighted points and then come out with their selection/waiting list--neighourhood criteria has been given the maximum weightage so far.

4. Pls hope for the best and apply in maximum nos. of neighourhood schools as in your case being new to Delhi you do not have the advantage of weightage points of Sibling & Alumni criteria which can make a difference.

Wish you all the best!

Bij:)

Thanks a lot Bij:) for such a detailed response..

Thanks Mr Bij for answering Inderbir's query in detail.

Inderbir simple logic school within 5-10km (max) radius you are eligible but points vary depending upon your proximity to the school.

Ok.. so Springdale, Dhaula Kuan is like less than a km from our house would that give us a chance because we don't have sibling or alumni points

see springdales dk pt system for last year in excel sheet ,i think only 20 max points for distance ,getting  without other points is quite tough

I think Sanskriti School will fetch you more points. Hope you get maximum points for neighbourhood and for defence profession. Refer the excel sheet in home page.

Thanks Latha
