I believe that forms for admissions to Scottish High will be available tomorrow? There was no information about time (nothing on the school's website either) so I called the school. The person on the phone informed me that forms would be available at 7- and mentioned that parents start queuing from 4 AM!!! Any comments folks? Is this really the case?

I think that might be a bit exaggerated but I know for sure the forms are finished within a few hours, say by 11-12. Suggest u be there around 8 coz the school doesn't open before that.

Couple of years back, I went around 9 and it went all right.

Thanks GautamSarin! That was helpful.

Welcome & best of luck - also do remember that u need to submit the form at that moment itself, as they won't accept the forms after tomorrow. Also the theory is the earlier u submit the form, the more probability of u getting the interview call.

But this is only Nursery upwards.. when will they open for pre nursery? Any news?

Also what is the age limit for nursery for scottish high?

Are you sure its only for nursery? earlier they used to have same day for both nursery and pre nursery, it might have changed but I am not sure.

Age required is 3+ as on 30th Sep 2013 i.e. 3.5+ on 31st March 2014.

Thanks Gautam.. the age you mentioned is for nursery.. right?

Yes Gaurav. For pre nursery its 2+ as on 30th sep.

Thanks for the info!

Don't think its such a great school that one needs to go through so much pain. I have seen kids from this school loiter around in Hong Kong bazaar, not really impressive in the way they behave. Also the school timing is till 4 or something, the kid comes back home dead tired. They are expensive and heard there is demand on different grounds outside fees structure.

Please refrain from making blanket statements without much knowledge on a school. My kid is been in the school for 2 years and I have had no such demand outside the fee structure. The day boarding is a personal thing (and starts only after class 1), which actually most parents (including me) prefer as the kids utilize the extra time in sports and extra curricular activities rather than watching tv / loitering at home.

Also its only marginally expensive than other schools like Shriram, heritage etc but the extra time the school staff and teachers put in for the kids justifies it. Also other infrastructure costs like electricity etc associated with kids spending time in school need to be considered.

Its wonderful that you are happy with your kid's school. Thats most important.

Comments I made was basis my interaction with other parents. My close friend took his kids out of this school becuase every year they organise for expensive foreign trips. I have heard from parents of current students that their kids are not able to go to play outside after coming home as they are tired. And hence they dont have friends outside school. Not sure if watching TV and loitering around are the only option after coming back from school.

Also I have a basic problem with a school with purposefully harasses parents by creating unnecessary hype around forms in today's age of technology. My very close friend reached the school at 9 am last year and did not even get a form. I mean what are we trying to project here. And whatever be this attitude, snobish, arrogance or whatever, my kids can do without it as I am sure this is the value that they will inculcate.

But again this is absolutley individual choice. And I am sure you have reasons to be happy with the school. :)

As far as behavior is concerned, a lot has  already been said about the snob value that children have picked up there. Actually a lot depend upon the company of children and home atmosphere. Majority of children there come from wealthy background with lots of money to splurge and nobody to monitor them at home as parents are busy in their stuff. It may be a problem for the middle class people as the attitude of those wealthy children can rub off on their wards.
