Based on the feedback from the parents and suggestions and advice from the moderators on this forum, I have finally closed Mount Carmel Dwarka for my son for class Prep. Thanks for all the help rendered and I wish that he fairs well in the school and I could also get the opportunity to appreciate and recommend the school further to other parents.

Still waiting on the refund to be made available from Basava. It is under discussion.

Thanks and all the best to all the other parents awaiting admission from their wards.

    Dear moderators and members,

Can you please suggest between Holy Child junior and St Froebel. We had finalized St Froebel but received a call in the morning today from Holy Child. My fix is to chose between an all girls school and a co-ed school. Your valuable opinions will help me decide. I have to submit the fees by tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Rachna

  • Rachna Shah

OK. Thanks Sakshi ji for your response. I think you are right. We were also thinking on the same lines.

  • S D

I also agree, whats the reason to have boys only or girls only schools...may be in the past to provide special emphasis on girls  education, these schools were formed. but i do not think its meaningful in present context...

  • Sakshi (Moderator)

    Thanks Sandeep for the update

    Admission Help

  • Sushma

@ Nidhi Gupta - did u booked seat in Mount Carmel through test, draw or MQ

  • Mrs Areej

yes I agree...co.Ed education is part of new age education..I feel these girl quota should be removed to as ratio is disturbed in school..

parents who's kids have got admission in ST COLUMBAS and RSJMS..could you figure out why criteria they selected...
  • Meenakshi Sharma

Hi Group...it hardly matters where your child is going for his/ her studies---Co-ed school or girls school....all matters is the studies.........and getting admission in delhi schools is soo very tough everybody knows.....So what i believe the motto should be a good education.............looks the records of the schools....the image etc...and get your child to get admission in that school................

  • Sakshi (Moderator)

    Meenakshi

If both the school are more or less equal and not having difference of chalk n cheese

Person shud go for CO -ed

    Resaech shows

1 Mental block towards opp sex

    2 Curiousity for opp sex

3 CO -ed  is recommended as now children from both genders start  studying working after 12 grade

4 We have to change with time ..thats why top convents are loosing its following even if imparting better academics.

5 More case of abuse found in single gender school

  • Mrs Areej

    very well said sakshi ma'am...
  • Sakshi (Moderator)

    Thanks Areej

I think Columbus does draw of lots ..fair

    Modern we all know :)

    Any success ?

  • Rachna Shah

Thanks SD and Mrs Areej..@ Meenakshi, I do agree that good education is important but at the same time in today's competitive scenario, it is important to have a holistic growth of the child..if a child is studying in all girls/boys school for 13 years and suddenly exposed to a co-ed environment post that, he/she may not be able to cope up with the behavioral and other adjustments she/he will have to do..although, I also agree with the fact that this is all hypothetical and may or may not happen in actual scenario..Yes, it is very very tough to get admissions easily in Delhi..I had applied in 32 schools last year for Nursery..my child's name did not appear anywhere..so you can understand what I have gone through in these two years for admission..just hoping for the best for mine and everyone else's child!

  • Meenakshi Sharma

I agree guys....now i would like to ask 1 thing....what should i do now....as my daughter's name was selected only for Cambridge Foundation and Holy Child............i was also very confused what to do?....but again looking at the options i selected Holy child...because it's a very good with a repo...educations......etc.....as comparison to Cambridge.......open environment we can give to our child at any time because these days we can not restrict them as being a parents we want them to involved them into different extra curricular activities where they will surely get co-ed environment......

  • Rachna Shah

Sakshi ji, I totally agree with you on all the points especially point no 1,2 and 5..I know someone whose child is studying in a girls school in class 5..she does not likes to interact or play with the boys around her house..she only hangs out with girls..if this kind of behavior continues, she will face difficulty afterwards..

@Pankaj Ahuja, I also agree Holy Child is a better school but I have to think of my child's overall development and outlook towards the society and people around..hence I have decided to go for St Froebel..

Thank you everyone for their valuable feedback and inputs :)

  • Sakshi (Moderator)

    Meenakshi

    Carry on with Holychild

see if you require change in future.

  • Meenakshi Sharma

What to say....but all this conversations put the parents under stress.....who have there child admission done in only girls/boys school.............i specially get upset after reading all these points.......i am not thinking anything right now.....just hoping that my daughter should not come out with good education this mental block of having Curosity for opposite sex.......as myself have seen so many things happening these days in Co-ed school.....so being parents we should pray that our child should do well in all fields............i was very happy last week.....but alll this conversation actually makes me very upset.....

Oh..I am so sorry Meenakshi..I started this conversation but I had no idea your child has got admission in Holy Child..had I know I would have not raised it at all I think considering the fact that you are quite an active member in the group..Please do go for Holy Child..it's a very good school..my only hiccup was all girl school vs co-ed school..I have nothing against the school and have received very good feedback from everywhere..All the best and please feel happy :)

    Meenakshi

You have got gud school .

Ask those who have not got any or just below average school.

It was just a healthy discussion

  • Meenakshi Sharma

Yes Sakshi i know its a healthy discussion that's why i said that in delhi it's hardly matters weather its a co-ed or girls school because it's becoming very tough these for all parents to get there child admission done in a good school . Because i have seen those parents too who are ready to pay amount to get the child in any of the school.....i really appreciate all the support and updates given to me thru this group.....Thanks a lot everybody......for your moral support for helping me to select the best school for my child.....

@Rachna....it's fine dear......you shared your thoughts and i shared mine....So its' perfectly fine........

  • Rachna Shah

    :)

  • Risha

    @ Meenakshi,
    Hi dear,
Last year I also applied in many schools for my daughter's nursery admission. She was not selected anywhere then we received call in the month of May from kidsway pusa road and she got the admission. After that we received calls from Hansraj punjabi bagh, sadhu vaswani and Bal Bharti pusa road that my daughter is selected through DOL. We decided to carry on with kidsway and even left Bal Bharti bcs I wanted to send her in convent school. The only school was in my mind was Mt. Carmel Anand Niketan. We applied this year, she cleared the evaluation and got selected.
My point is you be positive, trust yourself trust your child and have faith in god. Every thing will be fine. :)
  • Meenakshi Sharma

Thank you soo very much Risha....and yes i am very happy that daughter got admission in HOLY CHILD......reason is that it's  good Convent school.....

  • Sushma

@ Nidhi Gupta - did u booked seat in Mount Carmel through test, draw or MQ. what was their procedure for prep?

  • rvg

@mrs areej i got a call for confirmation of documents from st columbas about 15 days back and was told susequently to check the notice board on 2nd of march for final list of selected students. i don't know about the criteria or draws for the same though.

  • rvg

@meenakshi you need not worry after reading this discussion. there are many studies all over the world which say that single gender schools can be as good as co ed if not better. in fact they are known to perform better academically. i have two brothers who have studied in single gender schools , whereas i went to a co ed. i don't see any difference in their behaviour towards opposite sex as compared to me. also after school tuition system will ensure that our kids get exposed to male/female counterparts optimally. on your part, you can ensure that your kid plays with boys/girls of neighbourhood thus shedding their inhibitions. my personal belief is that single gender academically good/great schools are much better than co ed mediocre/good schools. my son is going to a good co ed school , but i am still willing to change considering st columba's academic reviews.

P.S. i was also adviced to prefer St columba's over St francis in this forum only ;)

  • Mukti Pahwa

@sushma mount carmel conducted an evaluation test for prep....In the first week of Feb. .nd selected children list ws on their website on 23 feb...even I received a call for test ..nd my child's name is in waiting list
  • Nidhi Gupta

@ Sushma. My son was selected in the test which the school conducted on 14th Feb. They gave a formal syllabus and had specified the count of available seats beforehand. This is how it happens every year at Mount Carmel.

I have no idea about the MQ seats there.

  • Sushma

@ Nidhi Gupta @ Mukti Pahwa - Thanks  a lot for the information.

  • Kavleen
