    New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) Children or their parents who may be aggrieved with AAP government's decision to fix four years as the upper age limit for nursery admission in private unaided schools of national capital can approach the court, Delhi High Court said today.

    Justice Manmohan made this observation when the counsel for the Delhi government agreed to exempt three kids, who had challenged its December 18, 2015 notification, but sought that the exemption should not be taken as a "precedent for others".

    The court then said, "those who come, we will look into their grievances. I cannot close the issue. If tomorrow someone else comes, I will have to hear them. Law has to be applied equally. I cannot say that I will not entertain if others come."

    It observed that as per the Delhi government counsel, the age bar will not apply to three petitioners -- Uday Pratap Singh Kapoor, Samridhi Singh and Kamakshi M Prakaash.

    The judge recorded the counsel's submission that this will apply to the petitioner approaching this court within time, prior to the last date of application process.

    The court was hearing a number of pleas by minors, filed through their counsel Akhil Sachar, challenging the Delhi government's December 18, 2015 notification fixing the maximum age for nursery in private unaided schools at four years.

    As per the notification issued by the Department of Education, the upper age limits for admission in pre-school, pre-primary and class-I has been prescribed at four years, five years and six years respectively as on March 31 of the year in which admission is being sought.

    The nursery admission process in Delhi schools began from January 1 and will conclude on March 31.

    Yesterday the court had asked the AAP government where did it get the power to fix an upper age limit for admission.

    It had also observed that the notification, by which the upper age limit was fixed, did not appear to have a legal sanctity as it was not issued by the LG or under any statute.

    My son is going to be 4 in March. So most of the schools in south delhi have not accepted application for nursery. I would like to know incase i file petition and get the exemption then can i apply for nursery and if yes then how? kindly reply.

    went to ne saplings rajouri garden few days back asked for admission for kg for my ward principal was nice enough and called me to her cabin personally and told that the school is only till kg and no responsibility of getting further admission to new era public school and further we would have to fill in separate forms for all schools again and that time criteria will decide what school u want or if we meet the criteria for admission to the same school for further study........confused .........har saal yahi karna padega kya ??

    I believe the notification ll be out today only in some time.
    Next I am going to file a pIL to make 3.5 as the minimum age for nursery admission. A 3 year old child is too small to go to a formal school.

    3.5 so that Delhi and all NCR can have same rule. There are very few sxhools like Dps and older schools who start with writing on day 1 in school with pencils. There curiculam has to be changed. Writing with pencil shouldn't be there till 4 yes of age at least. Rest of the schools have modern teaching methods which fit well for a 3.5 yr old
