All the parents of Noida area who are interested in getting their ward admitted in DPS Noida can join this group and interact among each other and can also interact with previous year parents who admitted their wards in Dps Noida
We had an interaction for DPSN on Saturday. Below I am mentioning the procedure:
1. The child was taken to a separate room along with about 10 kids, and there child is made to do pattern gaming, puzzle solving, coloring. My daughter was asked her name, our name, which play school she goes, rhymes(Hindi, English both), counting her fingers on both hands. Also she was made to play a game where she was made to jump into a ring patters(don't know what it is called).
2. After that in about half an hour, we all were taken to a hall, from wherein a group of about 8 parents were called in for interaction with the principal. She just asked all of us to give an introduction. Now its up to the parents how beautifully they can introduce and give description of themselves, their child, their profile etc.
One more thing, prior to all this, a small questionnaire was given to fill in. That's it.
Yes overall you be prepared for a time span of 2-3 hours.
Is it right to take assumption that parent who have not received call/mail till date from DPS interaction, have not been shortlisted. Have some one got mail/call for interaction in last 2 days.
Reason for asking is my son is currently studying in FAS and have been selected for Somerville. Can I still expect call from DPS as payment for Somerville will be required by this weekend
Please be informed that DPS N is a complicated story and there is a lot more than what meets the eye. If DPS N is the ONLY option you are hoping for, my suggestion is to not wait for it and take up what is available. Lots going on in its backyard that people on online forums may not always be aware about
@ Rupa , Shishir: how do you find FAS? Is it good option to consider? Since, your kids r already going to this FAS...could you please shed more light on the same...I mean how much importance they give to co-curricular activities apart from academics?
Cash of 750/- to be deposited as registration fee.
(As mentioned by Preeti Pandey also)

My daughter was asked her name, our name, which play school she goes, rhymes(Hindi, English both. Also she was made to play a game where she was made to jump into a ring patters(don't know what it is called). Meanwhile a small questionnaire was given to fill in with 2 qs 1)“ how to manage ur kid with a birth of new sibling?”
2) “Are u ready to hire/provide counseling or guidance for ur ward” something like that dnt remember exactly
2. After that in about half an hour, we all were taken to the AV Room, from wherein a group of about 8 parents were called in for interaction with the principal. She just asked all of us to give an introduction, give description of themselves, their child, their profile etc.
@ Geetika:Last year my daughter was shortlisted for Amity ...but we chose FAS because of distance (as we are in 62) and less fees comapared to other schools in Noida.....Amity is quite far….and moreover FAS is a convent school n follows catholic culture thus more disciplined........most importantly we got a very good feedback from other parents whose kids are studying in FAS..
FAS follows more academic approach -- traditional, structured and teacher-directed-- focused on formal reading and math readiness skills, such as learning and writing letter names, numbers and how to count. ……..vs. a developmental approach -- informal and child directed---emphasis on cognitive and social development-- based on the belief that children are capable, curious learners who are free to learn themselves and express their thoughts and ideas---
Also now I feel
Teacher students ratio is very high approx 1:40.. andi guess kids don't get personal attention ...
I am not quite impressed with the teaching methods they follow …
FAS is very good school and I will rate it very high in terms of value for money I.e. focus on education, values, over all development activity - Sports/Communication etc, where as fee structure is reasonable. Decision to shift is not easy.
Sharing my personal view of selection criteria will not be justice as I respect both school focus and ideology. Sorry but we can share views offline via mail so that we are not influencing any group/parents (shishirroy2000@gmail.com)
Lot of school ask about how do we rate our priority. That will help us as parent in case we have multiple options (personal opinion and how I will select school):
Focus on Education - What does this mean? Do you compare academic result of 12th, How many went to IIT, AIMS/Medical etc? Over All Development a) Sports activity b) Cultural activity c) Communication Skills - Debate, Quiz etc Focus on Values Social Activity Parent Teacher Interaction School Distance Child teacher Ratio
Note: In my view last 2 point only matter for first 3-4 years. In case you have long term plan shift home if school distance is problem, because kid should be first priority. Caution: Having lot of activity can also result in too much distraction, over/low confidence, unwanted pressure to excel - which as parent we need to take care. Points which I think have most influenced parents are - how school have done marketing (I.e. claim to be best in Over all development coz you have Horse Riding, Self defense). Few school focus on parent networking rather than what they are expected to do.
I had an interaction on 21st and was told that result would be out on 25th. Any idea how it will be communicated? Is it going to uploaded on the school website or mail would be received.?
My daughter is a little shy.....knows everything but may not open up in front of strangers....is going along with her any negative?? I dont want to force her in to a situation she is not comfortable in and make her overall mood bad so was thinking if its ok to accompany!!
