hi. both parents are required for completing the admission formalities as both parents need to sign the form. however in case if you feel you both wont be able to make it to the school, please discuss it with the school. the school expects the donations for the education for the lesser privileged girls; minimum 0f Rs. 15000.
  • Nidhi Arora

My child got the admission in DPS, I am feeling very Happy

Thanks AN, it would not have been possible without this forum

  • Rupa Bhattacharya

@Anjana..yes minimum 15000 u have to contribute..and u cn go further for other admission formalities only after this making contribution..
  • Nidhi Arora

Please guide us for Admission formalities..

Is donation amount is part of 70000 Admission Fee or its a separate component?

  • Nidhi Arora

My child got the admission in DPSN, I am feeling very Happy

Thanks AN, it would not have been possible without this forum

Thanks to all the members for their valuable inputs all the time

  • Rupa Bhattacharya

    @Nidhi..many many congratulations..
    15000 is not a part of 70000..
  • Nidhi Arora

    Thanks Rupa

How does other parents would get to know though there is no information from their side.

Also do we need to make a separate draft for this amount?

  • Priya

@ Sakshi- Does it make sense to opt out of Amity Noida for DPSN.We have already paid the fees in amity. The Student teacher ratio and the overall infrastructure seems at par with DPSN. The only factor,we see as an advantage over Amity is the distance from our home, its just half a km.Amity will refund only Rs 8k out of Rs 68.3k paid,in case we choose to opt out.

  • Sakshi (Moderator)

Nidhi Arora and all other Successful Candidates

    Heartiest congratulations and Stay Blessed.

    Thanks for your kind words.

  • Sakshi (Moderator)

Priya,Both are among most sought after school.

I think you should not change if you are comfortable.

See comparison by Kush Kapoor in this group comments only 2-3 days back .

  • Nidhi Arora

    Thanks Sakshi

  • Kush Kapoor

For all Parents who are confused between Amity and DPS.. I am re-posting my comments again...

Here is the what I know..

Discipline - I would say is more or less equal in the two schools.. Dont compare it from your time and Kids/Students are more "fast" and advance than we were...  And a lot depends on how they are "take care off" at home and what kind of friends/environment they are in.

Below i am not trying to compare people on their wealth and I apologize if I am trying to say something which I should'nt have

Coming to class of people.. both Amity and DPS have the richest of the richest people... as well as ... people like us. Pass by DPS and Amity during a Saturday when they have a PTM meeting or any weekday around 2 PM and you will get a hint of it... Offcourse the "rich" goes to Pathways/Genesis and LVIS too... But on a serious note... Pathways/LVIS have a lot of "High Designated" IT people kids.... and its not always business class...

DPS and Amity so had a lot of mix of people.. and yes.. they produce among the best students in Noida.. and trust me, even APJ is not far behind in the list. Its just that APJ may be needs to have a "better" Teaching Staff - but it is still good. Getting high marks in 10th and 12th Class is not how you should judge a school primarily.. What is more important is how they develop overall... I know people who got compartment and back in School and Eng. College are now at positions which for me was hard to believe.... Doctors and Engineers are not the only Jobs these days...

I am pretty sure that if you are saying 15 students cleared IIT this year from Amity.... DPS would also have a comparable number.. if not IIT, some other A and B grade Medical and Engineering colleges of India..

These are just my personal comments and should not be taken too seriously please.... My Son would be going to Amity as I had already paid the fees there and already blocked a seat in LVIS (paid their fees too).... and before I started researching myself on DPS.. i never liked the school because it was next to my house and I had seen the Sr. Student Crowd there (what we define as discipline).. But then... I was made aware that same would be the case with every school... DPS was next to me.. so I can see it...

Sumit, for you, I can think you can go with anyone without any fear... DPS or AMity.. but if you want more facilities specially in terms of Sports... go for DPS... they have a a lot of focus on Sports as well these days and have evening classes at very reasonable rates for the Students....

And yes, I know DPS participates in almost all Academics and Sports competitions help in Noida/Delhi and NCR region.... and Amity does that too... but may not be as extensive as DPS is in terms of sports.. Academics is at par in both of them. I have spoken to many parents in Amity and the Student Teacher Ratio in the range of 2:35 in Primary to 1:40 in Middle and Senior...

Amity and DPS participates in Olympiad at all level (though for some reason Amity did not participated in Olympiad this year for some classes).

I would say check the distance and decide as both schools are equally "good". In my case, I am 500 mts from DPS but did not even got an interaction call...

  • Daisy Mittal

Thanks Mr. Kush Kapoor. Plz everybody help me to decide between LVIS & Amity.

  • Kush Kapoor

Daisy.. You are in the same boat as I was... :)

I have gone with Amity.. and Applied for Refund in LVIS already...

  • Kush Kapoor

Here is what I feel happened in case of DPS.. I may be totally wrong. Has anyone who selected "No" in DPS transport being called/selected for Interaction? Just read "somewhere" that people who were too close to DPS were not selected for Interaction..

  • Shashank Arora

@Kush Kapoor- Well said. I completely second your opinion.

We as parents tend to give too much importance to the schools these days. I agree it is important to choose a "good school" for the child but then between the good schools we tend to further think on which is the "best" and there is nothing like it.

As I said somewhere earlier instead of ranking schools we should be banding/ grouping them. And in that case as you said amity/DPSN will be in the same level/group/band and should help parents decide.

And at the end there are other factors like the parents involvement and the child himself which decide the growth and development and not just the school.  These schools are no IIT/IIM but just a medium of learning.

    Thanks,
    Shashank Arora

  • Rahul Mehta

Thanks to all the parents on this forum for their useful comments. I received a mail at around 6:15pm yesterday. We have to report on 8th oct at 8:30 am...Kindly reply if anyone is aware of further course of action. And what is the donation amt of 15000 that is discussed

  • Rupa Bhattacharya

    @ Rahul& Nidhi:
Parents need to contribute/donate a minimum amount of 15k (by cheque)for the cause of educating underprivileged girl children and DPS schoolbook..this amt needs to be paid before submitting the actual fees of 70k...

  • Anjana

I am not quite comfortable with the management of the school forcing parents to give donation.

Donation should be voluntary not mandatory.

If this is the case while admission, unsure of how things will be in future.

Are the concerns of parents really heard here. ..

Friends! please speak up...what do u guys think on this

  • Priya

@Sakshi- Thanks a lot for your advice. You and this forum has been a great help for the parents like us.

Keep doing the good work and all the best to the other parents in search for the best school for their kids.

  • avika

    Hi Sakshi,

Our interaction was on 1st Oct and we havent received any mail. Which means my daughter is not selected, even though she answered 100% questions correctly?

Is there any waitlist released by DPS noida? I see that there are many parents who have got their kids admitted in other schools and also also selected in DPSN. Few of such seats will be free? What is the procedure of filling such seats? and When?

  • Rohit Kumar Sinha

Hi all, plz help. Finally i admitted my daughter in Somerville noida. But problem is- i would be shifting in noida extn in 2014 last or may be in indirapuram gzb as i have baught my own flat at these two places. As per my information Somerville does not provide transport facility beyond noida. I am extremely worried what to do. At the same time do not want to leave Sommerville. I know few private cabs are available but looking at the current situation in ncr i am not able to convince myself and leave my daughter's responsibility to a private cab driver. May be you all can understand my problem. Please suggest.
  • Kush Kapoor

Rohit... what other choice you have?

  • alka joshi

Hi avika same situation is with me as well. My son had very good interaction same day but no mail.....
  • Rohit Kumar Sinha

Thanks Kush! Others are Father Agnel & Vishwa Bharti. One more thing today I came to know that Somerville noida bus goes till indirapuram. Not 100% sure. Do u have any idea? Second, many people are rating FAS at the same stature like Somerville. If is it so, then why FAS was not there in the top 10 school of hindustan times survey? What's your view on FAS? I am really confused like hell. Plz help to decide.
  • Kush Kapoor

Rohit.. If you take my opinion.. I child must not be send more than 5 to 8 kms from home (specially when they are that young) unless u really dont have a choice...

I have no idea about Bus Routes of any schools... so that Homework needs to be done by you. A school not coming in the rankings in HT Survey can be because of various reasons - the most simplest one is that they did not participated in the survey.

Somerville as much as I know is excellent in Academics.. but does not have extra curricular stuff up to a desired extent. VBS is excellent in sports as much as I know... FAS is also not at all a bad option and has gained a lot of popularity among parents in the last couple of years.... I feel u can consider FAS since it is nearer to ur place... Dont go for a school that does not have a direct BUS service to your home and which is not supervised....

I wish you all the best....

  • Rubi Mishra

@Anjum whether both the parents are required compulsory....as I have a very important meeting scheduled for Monday morning....
