All the parents of West Delhi who are interested in getting their ward admitted in West Delhi schools can join this group and interact among each other and can also interact with previous year parents who admitted their wards in West Delhi Schools.
Hi gautam....i stay in janak puri, near by sfs school. As i read all urs and
other comments reg sfs...its showed that parents are So much keen for sfs...but here in janak puri from my block many kids r going to sfs as we can say( behd chal)...took feedbacks from the parents...one word say (thik hai) even i met with one family their son is in 10th class...he forced mom and dad...to change his school after 10th.many reasons r there....so this is about sfs...
Ms. Ravinder - Just for the benefit of all -- Can you please share more on the review of SFS ? everyone around west delhi seems to be keen in getting their kids admitted to this school and ppl are ready to pay a good amount too to get in..Is it worth it ?
Even if there are some flaws with SFS, given an opportunity I would still prefer this school.....large scale perception is that it is a good school...minor flakes shouldn't act as deterrents
Have done my schooling from SFS...during those days SFS was far ahead of its time...with new international and world schools opening up in every nook and corner there are lot of options available...SFS will never be that fancy school around the corner...it has its own sets of rules and values which it operates on, its a traditional school with focus on academics...that does not take away the plethora of opportunities for co-curricular activities if one is interested...it will not have a pool, a gym, horse riding, fancy classrooms, AC etc. but you should also keep in mind the fees it charges....minimal compared to others. Discipline was its forte and still is ...
very true Rajat but just to share that the kids of this era are not to be regulated by this discipline and strict education system. These kids are smart and if until exposed to new things, they may lose a lot.
Moreover, it is no doubt the best school in west delhi but at the same time with to much of pressure of studies, we will only be able to inculcate traditional methods in our kids and wont be able to involve them in their studies.
I think for all the kids who got thru it must have got it destined that they have to excel well so they got thru it else wud surely have something better too so they go thru some other school.
Most important is we as parents need to accept the school as good when we get our kids admitted there.
hi everyone,
my daughtet got admission in st. marks girls school paschim vihar and NE saplings rajouri garden. i m confused about which school to opt for. it would be of great help if someone can guide in chosing right school. i stay in paschim vihar.
any parent(s) here who is/are concerned about school transport? e.g. nursery classes usually gets over by 12-12:30 but kids are made to wait till the senior classes are over so that entire school leaves at the same time using school buses...nursery kids are made to sleep/play for those 2 hours at the school
Nitin: Most of the schools have separate trips for junior wings and senior wings....unfortunately we took admission in one of the school with this presumption and only during orientation we were told of this transport rule, else one can opt for private taxis but that's unsafe
while i feel sad too but only because of the school reputation and good reviews, I have decided to continue with this one....will search for transport alternatives but skipping this good school just for this also seems unfair.
@Ravinder: The same things are saying by others parents (whose kids are studying in SFS) too. SFS kids do not want to continue their schooling who are already studying there. I met a student (who is my neighbor) and that student is in class 11 who got 95% plus in class 10 (whatever that student achieved so far due to his/her labor and parents guidance, not due to SFS). S/he told me with strong voice - PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR KID TO SFS. SFS wards' Parents are also not happy with school. In this school you will see only discipline. "Bacche dar-dar kar study kar lete hain", said one of SFS ward's parents.
Now the approaches of educating kids has been changed .
very true Rakesh. one of my best friend even paid donation 2 yrs back for this school and finally took her son out coz it was too much of burden of studies and now he is GD Goenka where kid is enjoying studying. I think it also varies from person to person what we choose for our kids, studies only or holistic development or ...... All kids excel in whatever they do.
Seems to be an interesting discussion here -- one of my friends' kid is studying in sfs and he is extremely happy with it.she takes part in extra curricular activities.. lots of cultural programmmes etc.. also, the fees is less than the other schools.i think lot depends on the parents perspective too
For each school, you shall find a mix of reviews.....SFS is no different and nor are schools like Bal bharti e.g. where it is said that discipline is so high that teacher cut marks for mistakes which are not even worth. For Sanskriti school it is said that kids are made like robots where they are made to only follow commands....SFS is still a good school though I have been unlucky this year to get my ward into it.
We too faced the transporatation issue in K R Manglam and we opted out for school transport now. These schools just look out for their business.Child's concern doesnt matter to them.We cant even talk to class tecahers personally.Personally i am not getting a gud feel here.
This is not for the admission in SFS School bt without examine no one can give the marks zero to our kids. "As this is the first step of our kids futre's stair."
@ Mukesh: Wondering if there are no seats available in SFS and were all filled as part of the process then whey did the school management called few parents 2 weeks back for one to one interaction....
Thanks Pankaj for sharing real feedback. honestly very few ppl do so but it really helps coz most of us only go by name and don't even bother to look inside. SFS is a name indeed but with upcoming schools and needs, it doesn't match. Again, one has to choose what we need for our kids. IIT, IIM, CA, MBBS or let them explore what they want to learn and choose.
Gautam, even my friend attended that as his husband prepares and sells bag in school so they applied informally and they were called. she did share that many other parents were there too like them who did come thru some strong links only. they were fortunate to get thru and others who were there too.
Priya: Even I had gone and met principal on 11th but so far not been called by the school....when I had gone there I found very ordinary families, dont think they were called because of some links....neither have I any link but I just kept calling them frequently and one day they said yes for the meeting but as i said earlier waiting for some response from them
Yes I understand your point Mukesh but list was displayed at the junior wing and from there when we went to the main school, guard didnt allow us to get in....any ways even with 15 marks we wouldnt have made it to the list since we are not catholic nor alumni
My child just turned 3 and he knows writing English alphabet, words and sentences (capital, small and cursive) and reading English, Spanish and Hindi alphabet letters as well. He also knows reading English story books (so far he read more than 30 English classic story books, singing and reading rhymes (more than 30), more than 4-5 thousands English words, 4-5 words for each alphabet letter with their spelling. He can identify shapes and colors, do drawing/coloring and knows month of the year, days of the week, counting numbers (reading and writing both) and more what we can't expect from 3 years old young kid. He can sing our national anthem and national song and many other English songs. He has also good soccer skills.
When he was only less than 2 years old, he started communicating in English like big guys (but he can't speak hindi) - it did't happen just (it was our hard work on him and his interest). He is good in using computer and tablet, typing and more. He knows more than what class 1 students know. He got English story telling competition award. Any schools would be proud of if they take him in their schools. But unfortunately he didn't get admission in any schools through normal admission process - this is our education system. When I met a principal of a school and they took his written and oral test. He got through for Prep directly. But still I'm exploring right school for him.
I never sent my kid to any play-school.
Even I get a seat in SFS I will never send my child to SFS, I saw and met many kids of SFS because I don't want to send my child that school which is only good in academics and discipline. Teachers quality, syllabus, teaching approach, extra-curricular activities and students should have options to choose what they want to do.

even if we got more than 25, its not an easy get in to this school.
By now I have realized this school will repent losing on to excellent talent.

so is Venkateshwara, I think most sought school in Dwarka but they were they first to openly ask for donation.
People still paid and get thru but some did think its wrong to ask abt it before releasing list and kept waiting and will always be waiting.
I think whatever happens, happens for a good reason so we shall all need to accept.

Mr. Bagga it is very surprise that you got the zero for your wards and you didn't do anything against the school..
Mr. Rajat thanks for your kind advice. the point criteria of SFS school for Nursery admission are as follow
Catholic = 50, Distance 0-3KM = 15, Distance 3-5 Km = 10, Sibling (not applicable for 3rd child) = 15, Alumi = 10, First Time Admission seeker = 5 & Girl Child = 5 marks
Hope u understand my query.
