Hi, got the info from school that there shortlisting is almost over. My reg no. is 600+, and have not received the call yet. It is now clear that they have not shortlisted my child.I am disappointed, but I dont know what is the criteria for shortlisting. My child will be 3yrs 2 months only on 31st March 2020, can this be one of the reasons, if they want to have kids of a certain age only. Parents whose kids got shortlisted for intercation can comment.

Also Child's Aadhar was left blank by me. Is it mandatory ? Will that be an issue in processing the registration. 

My daughters' Somerville Regn No. is 60 for Nursery Admission 2021-22. But haven't yet received any email/sms regarding parents interaction?

My child got selected in Somerville School, Noida sector 22 for the academic session 2020-21. I have certain queries about the functioning of the school and I appeal the parents who have their wards already studying in Somerville to kindly assist me in this regard.

1. Other than composite quarterly fee if the school have any hidden fee which the parents are suppose to pay as and when asked?

2. Do they consider little bit flexibility on the bus route?

Fee Breakup is as follows: 

a) Registration charges - INR 1,000

b) Lott Carey Baptist Charitable trust - INR 23,600

c) Admission Fees - INR 10,000

d) Quarterly Fees - INR 33,540

Total: INR 68,140

*Fees once paid is non refundable.

this is mentioned on Fee Receipt.

Hi parents which one is better Cambridge Noida or Somerville ..I know Somerville is gud for academics but I want to add some extracurricular activities like swimming , skating , robotics to my child curriculum ... Please help whether Somerville has also these added facilities

Though we will be paying the fee there, however we have heard that Somerville is more focused on academics and no extra curriculum activities are being done. Also, we both are working and this school gives lot of homework to do. Will it be easy to manage in somerville. I can understand that everywhere parents are required to put efforts, but what is the difference between Somerville and other new age school system. Please help by replying.

I will try to answer your query to some extent as my daughter is studying in this school for last two years.

Somerville provides extra curricular activities like singing, dancing, short plays, drawing etc. they have dedicated classes for the same till class 4-5. They don’t have any provision of swimming or skating. These are not taught in the school. May be you can have them learn these skills from outside. They have a big playing ground where they have basketball, volleyball, football or cricket.
they have compulsory AI ( Artificial intelegence ) classes starting from class 7-8. 
We are also working parents and the same apprehension we also had when getting our child admitted to Somerville. Yes school gives homework. But it does so not to burden child or parent, but to make sure that every one (including child, parent, teachers) are on same page on regular basis and you also get to know what has been taught in class and how your child is grabbing things. Not much but daily one hour you have to spend with your child after you return home for these home works. They are very basic in nature. Mostly revisions of what has been done in class. It keeps the momentum going. And I truely believe that we can spend atleast this much time with our little ones for their own development.

Thanks for letting us know these details. It cleared some of the doubts which I had in my mind before reading your post since my daughter has also been selected in Nursery for 2021-22 session in Somerville Sec-22.

Just wanted your take on another important factor- what is the student teacher ratio over there and does the child get individual attention from the teachers especially in primary classes? Since you mention that you both are working parents, can you please give me an idea about day care facility in and around that area? Also, I have heard that for the school bus, pick up and drop location would remain the same.

I know I am asking too many questions, but as a fellow parent who has been in a similar situation before, hope you would understand my apprehensive state of mind! :-)

not an issue. I understand your situation. 

Teacher student ratio- in Nursery and KG there are two teachers every section and one supporting staff (didi). Approx student in one section is 50. So no issue for catering to individual student. Teachers do a very good analysis/mapping of every student during PTM. 
I am not sure about day care as we didn’t looked for it. 
they are very strict about pick and drop of child. Bus route is fixed. I am facing issue for pick up since last two years. I have to go to other society for pick you. Approx 500 meters from my society. But thankfully they have agreed to drop my daughter at my society gate after I have given an application. But they will only handover child to authorised person ONLY.

I have taken admission for my son in sommerville school this year(21-22).  Many kids in my society are studying in this school. As per reviews from parents, in nursery and KG i heard its 30-35 students per section with 2 teachers. If 50 is total student strength in a section, what about student ratio in higher classes i mean from 1st grade on wards. Any idea on this.

In my daughters section, there are 41 students. Rest Sections are almost same.

Senior classes have one teacher for sure. I am not sure about the students. Logically it would be same until and unless they merge two sections into one.

My kid has been selected for Somervillae and VBPS.

Please suggest which one is better.

Whats the prons and crons.

I have heard Somervillae dont provide much Extra activities and also VPBS is now going over brand name . Not same as its used to be around 4-5 yrs back.

Somerville provides ECA like singing, dancing, arts, crafts, etc but yes they don't provide fancy activities like horse riding, swimming, etc which new age schools provide.

Somerville still focuses primarily on academics and ECA comes secondary.

As a parent and the research i have done Somerville is a good school in comparision to any traditional school. Rest is individual parent choice.

My kid thru with Somerville N & VBPS N.

I am sure others would be deciding on the same? Any pointers to resolve this issue?
