ersonal opinion, limited to school evaluated) on the rankings of the schools are
Conventional Schools
Amity > DPS Noida > APJ > Somerville
There is not much difference between DPS Noida and Amity. I have personally ranked Amity higher because of their better infrastructure and flexibility to change with the changing world.
New Age Schools
SBS> LVIS > Global Genesis > GIIS > Pathways> Kothari > DPS 132> Shiv Nadar> Shriram Millenium
SBS is a leader and rest of all are comparable and one can opt for one or the other without losing much
In any case I would suggest not to place too much value on current ranking. As by the time your child comes out of the school this may be totally different. So while evaluating different schools you should think about what will happen to the education in 10 years from now and which schools are better suited for that?
We as of now have selected LVIS (as SBS doesn't seems to be opening admission this year). Now to dwell a bit on our selection process. We started with Amity, DPS Noida and SBS as our first preference. However this changed when we visited these schools. We went for first interaction in Amity and didn't like the class room or the general hygiene (mosquitoes were having a free run). We got shortlisted for second round but didn't attend, didn't attend first round of APJ and didn't apply to DPS Noida and Somerville. We decided that we would get our child admitted in New Age schools rather than the conventional schools. The reasons were better infrastructure; less pressure on child, holistic education, suited better to the changing world
Coming to the new age school we rejected GIIS (ongoing construction); Global Genesis (lack of bigger ground), pathways (teachers attitude) DPS 132 (more to do with branding; if you have to choose a DPS then go for the best DPS), Kothari (school timings), Shriram Millenium (lack of sports infrastructure; other wise probably have the best teachers and teaching methodology), Shiv Nadar (it may develop into a very good school but you have better options as of now)
To the people who are worried about not being shortlisted in Amity and APJ. I would suggest visit some of these new age schools. You may end up liking one of them and admission there is not that difficult and they are normally admitting students till february…

genesis global school is quite expensive and SBS is not open for nusrsury
lotus vally - i did not see good feedback on this forum, not considering dps express way and sommervile international as amity will be better option in comparison with them

DPS noida - my daughter is not eligible

ing to them..its olympic size pool)
here is what the admission counseller told us
"swimming is a mendatory activity form class 1 or 3 (i forgot)...other sport child can select based on his/her interest...music, dancing, arts and crafts are internal part of learning, they follow IB methodology till class 5 and after that u can choose between IGCE or CBSE"
could not talk to any parent of this school but the counseller advised us to come on weekday at 12 when many parents will be waiting at school to pick their child. fees are defiantly at much higher side, would come around 25 K at least per month and one one time admission fees are 60K.you can book ur seat by giving 30 K :).
also discussed with one of the parent from SNS, got very good review from her,
1) beginning years - they go slow in academics but install the concepts very strongly into the child..no home work no pressure...no extra fees demanded through out, 25 kids maximum in each class for nursery and KG. teachers are easily accessible, even the school shares email address and phone numbers of the class teachers with parents, one parent representative is also chosen for each class. the school is very attentive in listening parent's problem and providing solutions. all in all, she was very happy with the school
2) higher classes - currently the school has classes till 9 and each passing year, they keep increasing next level. the parent whom I talked to knew one more parent whose kid is going in class 7 and she is also happy with the school
Hope this helps if some one is looking for these schools…
il. The schools are going to issue notifications regarding the new fee, which is a hike of 10-12%. School managements justify the move, saying the hike is directly proportional to the increase in dearness allowance (DA) given to the large number of teaching and non-teaching staff. They claim that there are no government funds supporting them, hence the fee hike is the only option. Steep hikes in school fees have been contested many times earlier and evoked sharp reactions. While the schools cite a lack of other means, absence of any state government guideline on the quantum of a fee hike is taken advantage of by some schools. “The DA of school staff increases twice a year. We do not get any subsidy from the government. Increasing the fee is the only option we have and the fee in our school will be increased by 12%,” said Asha Prabhakar, principal, Bal Bharti Public School. The increased tuition fee is not the only one that will hit parents. Numerous other charges like a multimedia fee, annual miscellaneous charge, medical charge, operational charge, library fee, for extracurricular activities and others are also likely to add to the amount they will pay to schools. M N Arul Raj, principal, Somerville School said that the fee hike is an annual exercise done in accordance with the government rules. “We impose minor fee hikes so that partners are not burdened,” the principal said. Pramod Sharma, director cum principal, Genesis Global School said that the fee in his school would be increased by 2.5% only. The move has raised concerns among the city’s parents and a delegation will meet the district administration after the Lok Sabha election to seek an intervention.Times of India…

Nursery admissions: Delhi HC refuses to stay LG's notification
NOIDA/GURGAON: Delhi's neighbourhood norms for nursery admissions are forcing many city parents to consider schools in Noida and Gurgaon. Sunita Malik, head of the pre-primary section at Shiv Nadar School, Noida, said students from Delhi are welcome. "Most of the seats in nursery have already been filled. There are around 15-20% students from Delhi in this class." She added some 20 families from Delhi have approached the school and are seeking admission. Pramod Sharma, the director and principal of Genesis Global School Noida, said students of Delhi can be admitted in his school without any restriction. "Around 50 more students can still be admitted in nursery. Students of Delhi are welcome," he said. Unlike Noida, there are, however, fewer takers for Gurgaon schools among Delhi residents, primarily because of the distance and the fact that many Gurgaon schoolbuses do not come to the capital. But GD Goenka Public School in Gurgaon's Sector 48 says it got nearly a dozen applications from parents in Delhi for a total of 240 seats. School authorities say this could be because of the school's strategic location - it is easily accessible from the both NH8 and MG road. "We are just one year old and don't have any bus which goes to Delhi but still we received around a dozen applications from parents in south Delhi," said Neha Verma, admission in-charge of the school. There are, however, some schools in Noida which have made it clear that they would prefer only Noida students. M N Arul Raj, principal of Somerville School, said she will adhere to the school rules of admitting only Noida students. "We only consider students of Noida because it's always easy to contact their parents and call them in case of an emergency." She said around 15 parents have approached her school for nursery admission, but they will not be considered. Many parents who have applied to schools across the border have also applied to Delhi schools and are waiting for the results here. Veena Arora of Sarita Vihar said she has applied in eight schools but was not sure her child would get admission. "My child has only 70 points of neighbourhood criteria and no other points like siblings, or alumni in that school. I am waiting for the admission list. I will approach a Noida school if my child is not admitted in a Delhi school," she said.

g this intense Admission pressure every year here in Delhi & NCR, it certainly put us in a fix where we have less choices of schools as per our liking and the demand/applicants are too many..In this Forum we parents share our hands on experiences as faced in yesteryears and then discuss with current parents to enable them for an informed choice which may or may not affect the decision taken by them But it certainly gives them a platform on which decision making becomes easier..Ultimately it is for the parents to decide finally keeping the interest of their child in focus and then looking at various parameters by weighing them on the choices in hand That’s the reason I think we should not go after a predetermined mindset of Ranking the schools.. as there is immense information (right or wrong) available which may confuse one and may create an argument (however valid it may be) where one specific school for someone may seem better but for others may seem inferior.Me & my spouse being a parent, was on the same boat in 2 & 4 years back to admit our two kids..when this forum became a helpful hand ...by getting various viewpoints of other experienced parents and thus helped us immensely to decide, looking at the options we had at that time..Friends, pls read all the viewpoints raised here in this forum this year or from yesteryears regarding your choice of schools, visit to the schools personally, feel the real environment there, talk to the parents (who will be waiting there to drop/pick their wards), talk to the kids (if possible) and then frame an informed decision for your choices...Many schools in Noida/Ghaziabad areas are long established and have a traditional pedagogy which is well proven and thus giving excellent academic results consistently. They have ample infrastructure, balance focus on extra curriculars, they keep on adapting to newer trends and have a wide alumni base. These schools may become one set of your choices depending on the main factor of distance from your residence. ( e.g. Noida- DPS Noida, Amity Noida, Apeejay, Somerville, Father Agnel, Cambridge, Vishwa Bharti, Bal Bharati, Khaitan, Army Public School, etc.)Ghaziabad- DPS Ghaziabad, DPS Indirapuram,Amity Vasundhara, DPSGhaziabad Vasundhara, St. Francis, St. Thomas, Cambridge,DLF Public, Bla Bharati, Uttam school for girls etc.) ((Again in traditional schools there are some from well managed chains/trusts/groups like DPSs, Amities, Apeejays...etc.. which can also narrow down your choices..))Some other newer age schools are set up in this area who have adopted an experimental way of teaching based on holistic development of kids and enable them good modern age infrastructure and technology but don't have the backing of many years of academic records ( esp of 10th & 12 stds.)..these schools may form a different set of choice for you. But as has been seen these newer age schools have the fee structure slightly higher than the traditional schools. ( e.g.-Step by Step, Lotus Valley, Shriram Millenium, Kothari, Mayoor, Genesis Global, Pathways etc.) So from approx 38 schools of Noida & 30 schools of Ghaziabad ( pls see the excel sheet in this Forum)..mainly the 10-15 well known schools have the majority of competition going on as most of the parents are opting only for these schools based on their long established information..As a suggestion pls apply to as many schools as you can depending on the distance criteria and block at least one choice ( whatever you get) as any school can become a good choice once the school and the parents together willingly shape the future of the child in a mutual way..(Some of the viewpoints shared about a good school from we parents’ perspective can be found in this discussion thread: http://www.admissionsnursery.com/forum/topics/answers-to-all-questions?id=2660304%3ATopic%3A109776&page=83#comments)
All the best!Bij:)…
