e feedback received from parents earlier. We are mainly confused between DPS Sector 45 & DAV Sec 14, particularly after the news about DAV principal leaving. Also, DPS draw is 30-Aug, Saturday 9 AM and DAV list to be published on 01-Sep Monday 4 PM. Would I have opportunity to choose?
Is there any other school we should consider for our priorities - 1)Academics 2) Activities 3) Parental Engagement?
Many thanks,…

GURGAON: Parents in the city looking for a seat in a school for their wards are a baffled lot. The reason: Nursery admissions for the next academic year have already begun in some private schools in Gurgaon. Many others are likely to follow suit in a couple of days, a departure from the practice followed until last year when admissions used to start in August-end. Parents feel the early starters will also close the nursery admissions early, and this will give them little flexibility in terms of making the right choice of school for their wards. While Delhi Public School (DPS) International School in South City II, Gurgaon Valley School in DLF phase-II and Gems International School in Palam Vihar have started admissions in July, DPS in Sector 45 is likely to announce admissions on August 2 and DPS in Sushant Lok on August 4. "A school in Palam Vihar wants Rs 30,000 as admission fee andit will close the admissions in a few days. If I book a seat for my child there, then I will hesitate in applying at those schools which will invite applications in the monthend as the admission fee is non-refundable," said Rajat Yadav, an anxious parent. Another parent, Ruchi Garg, blamed the absence of a regulatory body for private schools in Gurgaon for what she said is the "whimsical attitude of some school management", unlike in the national capital. "This happens because there is no regulatory body to control school admissions in the city unlike in Delhi, where all schools are bound to follow an admission calendar," she added. Sumit Vohra, founder of a website which serves as a platform for the parents looking for admissions for their wards, said this haste exhibited by some schools is due to cut-throat competition among private schools. "In the last five years, I have never seen schools inviting admissions in the beginning of August. Normally they do it in the end of month," he said. However, the school authorities don't see any aberration in the early call of applications for admissions to nursery classes. "We always invite applications in the month of August. Last year, it was in the end of the month, while this time, it is in the beginning of it," said Sunita Nagpal, the vice-principal of DPS in Sushant Lok, which started admissions last year on August 27.
