il. The schools are going to issue notifications regarding the new fee, which is a hike of 10-12%. School managements justify the move, saying the hike is directly proportional to the increase in dearness allowance (DA) given to the large number of teaching and non-teaching staff. They claim that there are no government funds supporting them, hence the fee hike is the only option. Steep hikes in school fees have been contested many times earlier and evoked sharp reactions. While the schools cite a lack of other means, absence of any state government guideline on the quantum of a fee hike is taken advantage of by some schools. “The DA of school staff increases twice a year. We do not get any subsidy from the government. Increasing the fee is the only option we have and the fee in our school will be increased by 12%,” said Asha Prabhakar, principal, Bal Bharti Public School. The increased tuition fee is not the only one that will hit parents. Numerous other charges like a multimedia fee, annual miscellaneous charge, medical charge, operational charge, library fee, for extracurricular activities and others are also likely to add to the amount they will pay to schools. M N Arul Raj, principal, Somerville School said that the fee hike is an annual exercise done in accordance with the government rules. “We impose minor fee hikes so that partners are not burdened,” the principal said. Pramod Sharma, director cum principal, Genesis Global School said that the fee in his school would be increased by 2.5% only. The move has raised concerns among the city’s parents and a delegation will meet the district administration after the Lok Sabha election to seek an intervention.Times of India…

g this intense Admission pressure every year here in Delhi & NCR, it certainly put us in a fix where we have less choices of schools as per our liking and the demand/applicants are too many..In this Forum we parents share our hands on experiences as faced in yesteryears and then discuss with current parents to enable them for an informed choice which may or may not affect the decision taken by them But it certainly gives them a platform on which decision making becomes easier..Ultimately it is for the parents to decide finally keeping the interest of their child in focus and then looking at various parameters by weighing them on the choices in hand That’s the reason I think we should not go after a predetermined mindset of Ranking the schools.. as there is immense information (right or wrong) available which may confuse one and may create an argument (however valid it may be) where one specific school for someone may seem better but for others may seem inferior.Me & my spouse being a parent, was on the same boat in 2 & 4 years back to admit our two kids..when this forum became a helpful hand ...by getting various viewpoints of other experienced parents and thus helped us immensely to decide, looking at the options we had at that time..Friends, pls read all the viewpoints raised here in this forum this year or from yesteryears regarding your choice of schools, visit to the schools personally, feel the real environment there, talk to the parents (who will be waiting there to drop/pick their wards), talk to the kids (if possible) and then frame an informed decision for your choices...Many schools in Noida/Ghaziabad areas are long established and have a traditional pedagogy which is well proven and thus giving excellent academic results consistently. They have ample infrastructure, balance focus on extra curriculars, they keep on adapting to newer trends and have a wide alumni base. These schools may become one set of your choices depending on the main factor of distance from your residence. ( e.g. Noida- DPS Noida, Amity Noida, Apeejay, Somerville, Father Agnel, Cambridge, Vishwa Bharti, Bal Bharati, Khaitan, Army Public School, etc.)Ghaziabad- DPS Ghaziabad, DPS Indirapuram,Amity Vasundhara, DPSGhaziabad Vasundhara, St. Francis, St. Thomas, Cambridge,DLF Public, Bla Bharati, Uttam school for girls etc.) ((Again in traditional schools there are some from well managed chains/trusts/groups like DPSs, Amities, Apeejays...etc.. which can also narrow down your choices..))Some other newer age schools are set up in this area who have adopted an experimental way of teaching based on holistic development of kids and enable them good modern age infrastructure and technology but don't have the backing of many years of academic records ( esp of 10th & 12 stds.)..these schools may form a different set of choice for you. But as has been seen these newer age schools have the fee structure slightly higher than the traditional schools. ( e.g.-Step by Step, Lotus Valley, Shriram Millenium, Kothari, Mayoor, Genesis Global, Pathways etc.) So from approx 38 schools of Noida & 30 schools of Ghaziabad ( pls see the excel sheet in this Forum)..mainly the 10-15 well known schools have the majority of competition going on as most of the parents are opting only for these schools based on their long established information..As a suggestion pls apply to as many schools as you can depending on the distance criteria and block at least one choice ( whatever you get) as any school can become a good choice once the school and the parents together willingly shape the future of the child in a mutual way..(Some of the viewpoints shared about a good school from we parents’ perspective can be found in this discussion thread: http://www.admissionsnursery.com/forum/topics/answers-to-all-questions?id=2660304%3ATopic%3A109776&page=83#comments)
All the best!Bij:)…
Don't go by the paid survey of Amity as visible under HT Survey for last few years. It is all comercially paid survey. Apply your brain and go for schools that have decades of experience of passing out quality students like, Somerville, DPS, Vishwa Bharti etc. in Noida. Best of luck to parents who still wish to go with Amity, which are popularly hoemeground of the richer lads :)

All, who are serious about respective wards's secure future, pls don't consider Amity. The owner of this institution (Ashok Chauhan) itself is under legal tangle. Pls refer to the link for detail : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashok_Chauhan He is under Interpol Red Corner Notice (in Germany and as well as in India) , which is a serious concern to note. Hope we should not jeopardize our ward's future just by going with brand name :) Welcome to the parents who go by so called brand name and social status :)

igh of relief with the High Court having fixed the minimum age (between 3-4 years) for admission to Nursery, parents in NCR are confused with no similar regulation in their states. While some schools in Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurgaon are allowing kids between 3-4 years, others are seeking kids between 3.5-4.5 years, while the rest are asking for kids between 3.6-4.6 years of age. So kids eligible for some schools become ineligible for others. Cases in point in Noida are DPS and Somerville which have fixed the age criteria at 3 years 6 months, while APJ and Amity schools in the same city have set it at 3 years. In Gurgaon, DPS Sector 45, Sun City and Scottish High are allowing kids at minimum 3.5 years while Heritage, Ardee, Ridge Valley and Lotus Valley have kept it flexible.Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery.com, a website helping parents getting their wards admitted in nursery, says, “In Delhi, the DoE has fixed the age criteria. So everyone knows that their kids have to be between 3 to 4 years to get into nursery. However, in the absence of any set guidelines in NCR, schools are setting their own age eligibilities leading to unnecessary confusion. It is especially a problem for first-time parents as they are not familiar with the admission process.”“Most schools are asking for minimum 3.5 and 3.6 years so that the students they get, are mature enough, don’t suffer from anxiety and are more disciplined; but many new schools located in far flung areas are accepting kids at 3 years also to be able to fill up their seats. A reputed educational trust has set different age criteria at its branches in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Expressway which is wrong.”Nupur Khandelwal, a parent and resident of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, says, “I wanted to get my son admitted in St. Thomas school which is closest to my house; but they were asking for students of 3.5 years and my son was falling short by a few days. So we opted for DPS which is further and costlier.”Preeti Dhaliwal, another such parent and resident of Sushant Lok says, “I wanted my daughter admitted in DPS last year, but she was falling short by a month. Ultimately, I had to keep her in playschool for an extra year, something I didn’t want to do at all, and looking forward to getting her admitted in DPS now. I hope there are no hassles now.”…

(Hi Friends--as we all know established schools of Noida like DPS-N, Amity, Apeejay & Somerville have a Ratio of around 1 Finally Selected to 10 Applied/Interacted at 1st round). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For Help of Parents getting ready for Apeejay Interaction Process: Hi Parents, sharing experience of parents for last 2 years who had undergone interaction process at Apeejay Noida (thanks a lot to them for sharing this in this Forum for benefit of all others). There were 2 rounds of Interactions followed in last 2 years. Parents alongwith their kids were called for in both Interactions. 1st Interaction: Slightly Informal in Nature. Around 3000 parents went through 1st Round. # A group of we parents alongwith the kids were kept waiting in a perticular room. # Then we alongwith the kid were called in a separate room. # Parents had interaction with a teacher..while other two teachers interacted with our kid at a corner in the same room.. # We were asked simple questions regarding our Qualifications, Work Experience, Nature of the child, Why Apeejay?... # We could not see back at the interaction of our kid..but later he told that he recited a Rhyme, Identified some Shapes & Colours..really a cool interaction. Result of 1st Interaction:-Shortlist for 2nd Interaction: Displayed at school around 4-5 days after 1st Interaction: A group of around 8 candidates were given the same time slot and next group after 15 minutes (approximate interaction time per candidate was around 2-3 minutes) Total approx 800 students shortlisted for the 2nd Round 2nd Interaction-With Principal (mostly)/Head Mistress/Any Sr. Faculty/Any Board Member: Slightly Formal & Structured. Parents were asked:- # About Educational qualifications & Work experience. # Why did you choose Apeejay? # What habit or trait have you (Mother) inculcated in your child so far? # What qualities you would like to grow in your child further? (Ans by one selected Mother- “as I had been a good student of Maths so it would help me in making my child self disciplined, accurate, neat, clean, help him in taking quick and justified decisions, enhance his logical and analytical skills’) # How much quality time you spend with your kid? # Who looks after the child when both of you are at work? # If you (Father)agree that "its easy to transfer blame in the current scenario? Child was Asked:- #"One teacher in the same room interacting with the child--asked about Colours , Shapes , to recite a Rhyme/Poem, Name of the animals by showing their pictures. Result of 2nd Interaction:-Final Admission List: Each selected parent to be called on Phone within 10 days of 2nd Interaction.. As per parents around 300 plus were selected for Final Admissions. Documents required at Admission:- Deposit fees through Demand Draft (Amt. Rs.56,500/-), ITR of Parents for last year, Original Birth Certificate, Cooies of Parents’ Educational Certificates, Immunization card of Child, Blood group details of the Child. All the Best, Bij:)…
