My understanding of management quota: A license provided by the government to a school management to give the management the ability to circumvent the points system and profile and choose candidates from 'preferred' families.

Schools select candidates from 'preferred' families in an attempt to maintain or reinforce their brand or image.

In school admission forms, schools ask 'profiling' information from parents, such as their educational qualifications and job details. They claim this doesn't affect the points system. However, they pore over the lists, identify the parents they should call for interactions under the management quota, and ask for donations (nominal or substantial).

So the points system is in practice a bit of a sham. A candidate from a 'preferred' family background would have a higher chance of selection even if they have scored lower than other candidates.
