Thanks for the update sakshi ji,

As i understand 'the parameters by the action committee' isn't legally binding on the schools. We dont know how fair the criteria is going to be and even if it is in the best interests of parents, we dont know if all schools will follow them. Too many if's and but's.

when is the next court date for the pil filed on Monday?

Nursery Admissions DEC 3 - Hindustan Times  Delhi parents look for seats in NCR

After the Delhi High Court scrapped government norms for nursery admissions, allowing private unaided schools to frame their own guidelines, parents from Delhi have started approaching Gurgaon schools for admissions.

They are worried that the litigation might continue for months, delaying the start of the academic session. When the verdict was announced by Delhi HC, Anupama Singh, a resident of Malviya Nagar in Delhi started searching schools in Gurgaon for her daughter.

“With no government regulation, the schools in Delhi will form their own regulations, giving them the upper hand. It will take the same time if my daughter commutes to Gurgaon or to a school in South Delhi. If we get admission in Delhi, we can withdraw her from the Gurgaon school,” she said.

“It’s possible that schools will give priority to sibling and alumni. Very few  seats will be left for the first born child. Hence, parents are playing safe by blocking seats in NCR,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com http://admissionsnursery.com/
Some Delhi schools are awarding extra points to parents who are vegetarian or teetotaller, children of foreign nationals, NRIs and sibling studying in the same school.

“We already have students coming in from South Delhi with our buses plying on several routes in Delhi. We are receiving enquires. With the HC verdict, we hope more parents would be interested in enrolling in our school,” said Ruchi Pant, head (communication and admission), Pathways School, Gurgaon.

“Admission process in Delhi is fraught with confusion. This is making parents look for options in NCR. We are seeing a gradual movement towards Gurgaon. We met some parents who were even willing to shift base to Gurgaon to provide good schooling for their children,” said Sunitha Nambiar, program director, Kunskapsskolan School, DLF 1.

@ Sakshi and Lathaa Mams.

Could you Pl. explain about this Action committee of School. Is it registered committee?

Who are the members (all the school/divided zone wise) and what powers do they have? Do all the schools follow the decisions?

What about convent schools.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Hello Latha, Sakshi .It's good to see you all helping us (helpless parents) to show a ray of hope.

Honestly, by now I have only realized that admissions wont happen without knowing someone or without money. I also got to know some schools have given admissions too but it's tough to share coz they are not doing formally but only saying to parents that their seat is reserved after taking money.

Now also we are clueless how soon clarity shall appear.

Latha Ji, do you have any reviews for JM International School. Dwarka? The other day I found so many posts and later Sakshi did moderate them as they appear to be a PR activity so wanted to know if the school is genuinely good or not?

Ind Exp - 3 DEC

Pvt schools will soon get common nursery rules

“We will not be dictating any rules, but just communicating parameters within which all schools can make their admission criteria. That said, it will be communicated to schools that the committee does not support collecting donations, building fund or capitation fee during admission season. Parents can file complaints of schools found asking donations with the grievance cell,” Bhattacharya said.

Although schools have welcomed the move, some have expressed apprehension over how it will be executed. “It’s a good move and will streamline the nursery admission process. Parents will no longer have to run from pillar to post,” Jyoti Arora, principal, Mount Abu School, Rohini, said.

“It’s all a question of autonomy. As long as schools are given autonomy, it works. But we will only know how good the policy is once the guidelines are out,” principal of a leading school told Newsline, wishing not to be named.

“It looks like a good move on the face of it. But we will have to see what schools come out with,” Pooja Thakur, a parent from East Delhi, said.

NEW DELHI: Heads of private schools met on Tuesday in an effort towards "self-regulation" which the action committee for unaided recognized private schools had planned after a high court order upheld their autonomy regarding nursery admissions. The panel constituted an "admissions criteria committee" and a "grievance committee" and will seek suggestions from parents through their website.

The admissions committee, consisting of seven to eight principals, has been given seven days to formulate guidelines for admissions. The committee's president S K Bhattacharya said it does not imply they were "fixing the criteria." "We are only trying to decide on parameters. Schools may decide what they need and assign points accordingly. That will allow more flexibility," he added.

These criterion are not legally binding. "These will be morally binding," he said. The grievance committee will handle complaints. Committee's lawyer Kamal Gupta said it will consist of retired IAS and IPS officers, and judges.
