Management quota should not return, LG told

NEW DELHI: The lawyers, who had filed a plea in high court that made it the lieutenant governor's job to fix nursery guidelines, have written to him with their own set of suggestions. They write that any criteria other than distance (proximity to school) and draw of lots will be "discriminatory" and "not acceptable". They also encourage the lieutenant governor to not capitulate to demands for restoration of the 20% management quota.

"We... understand that the school management lobby is putting lot of pressure on you to grant them 20% management quota in the admission. This quota has always been misused by the schools and it is a major source of corruption in admission to private schools. In any case, the same is discriminatory, arbitrary, against public interest and opposed to public policy and you had rightly abolished the same in the 2014-15 admission criteria. We, therefore, demand and expect that there will be no management quota in the forthcoming nursery admission criteria 2015-16," says the letter from lawyer-activist group, Social Jurist.

The education department is, meanwhile, hoping they can bring the entire process forward. "Our intention is to bring it forward but the matter is under submission. In January, there are pre-board exams and our officials have to go to lotteries for EWS admissions as well and it becomes too difficult for us to manage," director, education, Padmini Singla, says.

Dr Amita

i think Sevakramji is just talking about only name and caste and he is right valid for all.

You are talking about address proof and birth certificate no relaxation in private school and you are also right.

Yes Sevakramji

I mentioned its only for govt schools.
