Form Dates | Admission Criteria | Results | Fee Details | List of All Schools
Dear Parents,
Like the previous years, we expect Nursery admissions to begin anywhere between mid-December to first week of January. Therefore, all those who are planning to get their wards admitted for the upcoming session, should learn about ABC of Nursery admission in Delhi:-
A – Admission Begins
Unlike in other states, all schools in Delhi start nursery admissions in fix timeframe set up by the Dept. of Education. Hence, keep a tab on declarations by DOE at www.edudel.nic.in
B - Best Bet
Shortlist the schools within 10km radius of your residence. Fill forms of the schools whom you give preference as well as those those who give you preference (more points).
C – Curriculum (CBSE/ICSE/IB)
Keep in mind the curriculum that you would like your child to follow.
D – DOB
Age for Nursery admission should be 3+ as on 31st March of that session.
E - EWS & Disadvantaged Group & Orphans
EWS quota is given 25% of the total seats for admission.
F – Fees
Please check the fee structure of the school before applying to check whether it fits your pocket.
G – General Category
Of total seats, 25% reserved for EWS and 20% is allowed for Management ( as per discretion of the school). Rest is available for General Category.
H – Helping Hands (DOE, online portals and groups like http://www.admissionsnursery.com/)
If you have any query or complain regarding admission, approach DOE or online portals.
I - Important Dates
Note down the important dates such as last date of sale of Regn. Form, last date of submission, Documents verification, 1st, 2nd & 3rd List dates, Draw of Lots (in case if any), etc.
J – Jargon
You will read many articles or reports using Jagrons which may confuse you. So ask other parents if you feel any difficulty in understanding.
Nursery = Pre-School
KG = Pre-Primary
Class 1 = Primary
K – Kids
Let kids be kids. During the admission process, leave kids at home or any relative’s place. Sometimes there are long queues and the whole process becomes very tiring for the tiny tots.
L - List
Generally schools come out with 3 lists. So, in case your name doesn’t come in First list, do not panic. Most of the parents fill in 15-20 schools, hence many seats are left vacant in first list as they get through in multiple schools.
M – Management
Many schools give back door entry through Management seats which can be secured through donations.
N – New Schools
Try new schools coming up in Dwarka and Rohini if they fall in your vicinity. It increases your wards chances of securing a seat for the upcoming session.
O - Online & Offline Registrations
Online regn. in some cases allow filling form and e-payment, while some schools allow only download of form which need to be sent along with DD. For offline regn., one needs to personally visit schools and buy regn form.
P – Prospectus
Please note that buying of prospectus is not compulsory. You can alternatively ask for only regn. form.
Q - Qualification or Occupation of Parents
Most schools ask for parents’ qualification, occupation, salary, etc. However, it must be noted that no school can earmark points based on them.
R - Registration Fee
Government has set Registration Fee @ Rs 25/- only.
S - Selection (Draw of Lots or Point System)
100 point system is most common system followed by most schools. Points are awarded on the basis of Alumni, Sibling, Distance, First born, Girl child, Transfer case, etc.
T - Test
No test or interaction with child is allowed by the government.
U – Unrecognised Schools
Check the credentials of the schools before admitting the child. Many recognised schools do not admit children transferred from unrecognised schools, hence parents face lot of problems at later stages.
V – Verification of Documents
Submit Birth Certificate with child’s name (if possible, get 20 copies of the same issued by MCD beforehand).
Residence proof – Voter ID, Electricity bills, Driving licence, Passport, Aadhaar, etc. (Pls. note that in case of rent agreement, many schools specify that only registered Rent agreement which is more than 6 months old is valid, [to filter out fake address proofs made on the spot using notary stamps])
W – Worst Case Scenario
In case your child’s name does not appear in any of the lists, you can continue with the playschool or try new schools in Dwarka or NCR.
X – X-Ray
Before submitting the fees, please check the school infrastructure, talk with parents and teachers and get as much information possible.
Y - Yahoo
Yahoo moment if child’s name is shortlisted in a school of your choice. It’s party time.
Z – Zero in
Finalize the school, submit the fees, secure admission. Mission Nursery admission accomplished.
All the best.

In recent guidelines, no upper age limit can be fixed by schools .so you both can apply.
Any rule related with upper age cut off will be fixed by govt.
