Alumni Criterion

We are seeking admission for my grandchild in Rohini area and have applied in 23 schools. The father is alumni of Bal Bharti, Pusa Road and the mother is from Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai. Bal Bharti Rohini and Apeejay School Pitampura have refused to consider 5 points for the alumni for our child's application on grounds that the parents are not alumni of the SAME BRANCH. How can they be? The schools are not that old.

Further, nowhere in the DOE notification or the court rulings does it say that the alumni criteria is valid only if the parents are of the SAME BRANCH. The organization being the same and in the same city, how does it matter which branch it is. The child clears the 8 km. criteria.

Please clarify if the ruling is that for the alumni criteria to be applicable, the parents should be from the SAME BRANCH.

Schools are given a free hand as far as alumni category is concerned, they have seprate interpratations for who they consider to be an alumni,
some schools consider if the parents completed 10th & 12th from the same school branch, some consider only 12th passouts to b alumnis, & some even consider if grandparents were alumnis like modern school humanyun road, as far as apeejay & bal bharti are concerned they only accept one as alumni if the parents completed schooling from that particular branch of school, no preference is given to alumni's of other branches of d same group of school.
