The festival is primarily a Celtic fire festivity, midsummer representing the middle of summer, and the shortening from the days on their gradual march to wintertime. Midsummer is usually celebrated on either the 23rd or even 24th regarding June, even though the longest day actually falls on the 21st of Summer. One of the most famous alignment is that in Stonehenge, where the sun's rays rises on the heel stone, framed with the giant trilithons about Midsummer morning.
