My side of the story and opinion from the Team.

My Side of the story

This may be a bit stretched, however, I thought of writing it to just make people calm and proceed with optimism that each one would be through by the time 2nd draw finishes. There are enough seats to get every ward admitted. Yes, not everyone would get in the preferred one. Like, Nirmal Bhartia is my first choice, however with minimum number of seats it would take some luck to go through.

I stay at Dwarka Mor and applied in 17 schools only, that too only in Dwarka. No Vikas Puri, no Janakpuri, other nearby areas did not even come in mind. I did not apply in DPS, DAV, Maxfort, BGS and a few more known ones. I did not venture in to the Sector 22-23 schools.

Out of 17 I am selected or would be selected in first draw in probably 13 Schools. Out of the four draws we have attended so far, my daughter has got shortlisted in two. (Shreeram world school is the obvious choice among two)

Once again, thanks to the ‘AN’ team and fellow members for being such a great help as once the last date was over to fill forms,  I was worried about the lesser number of forms I have submitted. People kept informing about number of schools they have applied, most going around 40 and some all the way to 60-70 schools.

As advice from AN Team, experience of parents from previous years and some known people gave me confidence that I was on the right track. The first draw we attended and made the cut, that was a huge relief. The school wasn’t the first choice, probably 16-17th choice out of all applied; still we had a name in our kitty. Day 2 of draw and we made to Shreeram list. In between we missed out on SVIS 18 and Indraprastha draws.

Tomorrow I have draws in ITL, Sachdeva, VIS Sec 10 and JM International. Probably would be in line for Nirmal Bhartia, Dwarka International, OPG, AGS and MBS too for the draw. Limited seats available with huge number of applications mean lesser probability to get through.

Now with regards to opinion concerning my communications with schools once the name and points were displayed. One school didn’t have the name in the list, more than half of all the schools had some error; in one school I did a gaffe while filling the form online. Just one mail to each school and errors were corrected promptly without much of fuss. The right kind of communication from most of the school gave me confidence that process won’t be such tedious.

Benefit of applying in only 17 schools was that I didn’t have to run around bushes for information. This came as a blessing in disguise for me as just 2-3 days of draw and I am almost clear of my apprehension about going through. I would still suggest to apply in as many schools you may just to avoid any issues. May be it is just luck on my side that has helped me out in this process with limited applications.

I do not wish to wait for 2nd Draw. The whole process of withdrawing from one school and going to another is something I am not comfortable with.

So is Shreeram a good quality choice, need an opinion on this. Fee I understand is on the higher side or shall I opt for anyone of the above if shortlisted tomorrow.

Happy Hunting guys, and wishing luck to everyone.
