How do schools who are progressive in their academic approach till primary (like Shriram, Vasant Valley or even Gyan Bharti ) deal with transition to a formal structured academic model from Grade VI? By progressive I mean learning through play and exploration and not formal structured academics. I have heard personal accounts of children unable to deal with the sudden pressure on academics in Grade 6 and of their running away from studies. Is it better to remain in either a structure academic model or a free progress model throughout one's schooling? Or does the trendy hybrid approach make sense? I am eager to hear people's thoughts on this topic.
