Nursery Admissions in Delhi NCR 2024-25

Admission Dates | Admission Criteria | Compare schools | Fee Details

Hi All! My son is 9.03.2015 born and he was youngest, being 2 years and 11 months, in the Age Criteria for Admissions Year 2018 - 2019 (last year), for which he could not meet the admissions expectations / Child interation Stage of the top most NOIDA School like Amity Int. Noida, DPS Noida or even APJ Noida. We got him admitted in Nursery at Presidium Noida, Sector 19 Noida branch just to save his year.
1. We could not find any Reviews of Presidium School, Noida for which I alsi request for your opinions.
2. Now Should I try for again getting his admmission in Nursery 2019 to 2020 as though he falls beyond any of the Age Criterias prescribed by the schools in NOIDA i.e. child should be born between 1.04.2015 to 31.03.2016
OR
Should I go for KG Admission, if yes what is the criteria for getting admissions in KG at any top schools in NOIDA.

Please guide as your opinion can save me a tons of frustrations through which I am going at present.

Thanks for your inputs, as this will help lot of parents who are curious to know about Interaction procedure as these schools are not transparent about admission procedure.

Could you also share parents interaction details for these schools of last year, as this will help lot of parents sailing in same boat.

Hi Dhananjay

I agree to Sanjay . You can plan to got for nursery admission this year only .I know many parents having kids born in feb and March and getting admission in nursery when they are already 4 .Child will be able to handle studies pressure accordingly ,otherwise other children who are already almost 1 year elder to him will perform better looking at their speaking confidence and physical activities like race and other sports.

Child born in feb march may be younger among others, but it doesnt matter if child doesnt excel in any sctivity in nursery itself. With the help of parents, child can cope up with the syllabus going on in school. And once child is promoted to KG, he/she him/herself is up to the mark like other children. This difference in months matters only in Nursery KG in the beginning of schooling. later it hardly matters. And that too parents can help kid to go along with the school syllabus.

I agree with @Ankita.

My 2 Cents :

1 Schools open in April for 30-45 Day and technically many children find it difficult to accommodate in New Environment of All Age Groups. ( New School and Peer Group). So Real Academics starts in July on wards and  Feb /Mar Born child gets additional 3-4 months.

2 Around 2500 Delhi schools ( Uniform Age Criteria in Delhi with Fixed Admission Calendar) take Min 3 yrs on 31 mar.

3 See today's thread that will make things more clear.

Also see the blog posting it again.

@Ankita... What you are saying holds true if the child, who may be among the youngest ones in class, gets through Nursery admission.
In Mr Dhananjay's case, his child is already doing Nursery in Presidium. What Hitu and I are trying to suggest is that he may try for Nursery in a school of his choice again this year. If he gets through, nothing like it. If not, his son is eligible for KG anyway. Since admissions in KG are in December and are tougher to crack, he may give a shot at Nursery as well.

Agreed

Also he can also  try KG in many Good Schools  taking 4 yrs  on 31 Mar 2019 and starting admissions with Nursery.

Whether he is looking for Traditional Sought After School or New Age School,is his choice.

Ya ryt. I was saying in general case.

Hello everyone

We are sailing in the same boat. I would request if i could get correct guidance. My son is Jan 2016 born and will be 3.2 years by April next year. I have a few questions in mind and really need help.

1. Should we apply for admissions this year for Nursery (although i feel he is too young for admissions next year).

2. Should we continue his nursery at the preschool he is attending currently and then look for admissions for KG in 2020-21? How easy/difficult is that? is it based on vacancies, if available?

3. If we put him in nursery in his current pre-school next year and repeat nursery in 2020-21, would he be eligible for nursery as he will be 4.2 years then? Would he be eligible only in schools where the age criteria is between 3.5-4.5 years?

We really need to decide upon this. Does being young in the class a cause of worry? How well do they cope up, as i heard that school generally try pressurising on writing etc.

Hi Esha... Im a second time parent. So based on my experience with my elder son, will like to share my inputs with you

1) Earlier a few traditional schools like DPS and Somerville took children from 3.5 years onwards. But since the last couple of years they too have changed to 3-4 years strictly. Among the traditional schools, FAS takes 3years 3 months onwards. Most traditional schools are taking 3-4 years. Flexibility in age eligibility is school specific and case specific. To be on the safer side, its better to apply now, if you are looking for traditional schools. Not much of a choice there now.

2) Most of the new age schools or these global schools take 3.5 years onwards. So you have a window there, if you are open to New Age Schools.

3) Admission in KG is definitely tougher since it is vacancy based. Schools have few seats available for KG. And schools like DPS have a written test along with interaction for admission in KG

4) A young child might face a little pressure in the initial months, specially when writing starts. But by Prep children generally gather up pace. Some schools like Amity have sections made age wise. As in for example, children born in Jan Feb March are put together in the same section, so that the child is with peers his age. And doesnt feel much difference in coping up. This is maintained till class 4. But Amity otherwise puts a lot of stress on academics.

Hope my inputs can be of some help to you. Wishing you the best!
A great help Sanjay. Many doubts are solved here. I will mostly apply this year, as I am not sure if we would want him to start KG from a different school and since it is based on vacancies it will be all the more difficult for us. Also if I put him in nursery next year and then repeat it in 2020, we would get admissions only in limited schools who accept 3.5 to 4.5 years. It’s tough but we need to take a decision.

Sanjay

You Nailed it.

Just one addition Many Sought after New Age Schools take  Min 3 yrs on 31 Mar 2019 like Global Genesis,GIIS,DPS sec 132 n few more (Parents can double chk with GG as its mentioned 3.5 yrs on school website but in previous years some parents confirmed getting admissions at 3 yrs). Rest other Sought after schools like SBS,Shiv Nadar,Pathways n few more take 3.5 yrs .

Imp- SBS does not open admission for Nursery but Montessori Min age 2.5 yrs on 31mar. (Trend being followed from last 5-6 years)
