and also the camera in the classes, which is a plus from a security perspective. Other schools had cameras only in the lobby.
Yes Somerville have AC in classes which is not in Cambridge
Till last year, they didn't had AC classes. This year dont knw
yes all their classes are air-conditioned atleast this is what we saw in nursery and kg along with air purifiers and security cameras as mentioned by Ravi and yourself
Dear, I too went through same dailiama and after consulting few friends, I have selected Somervillae.
As per the feedback I have got, Somervillae is AC for starting classes, but as you go in higher classes, its not there.
Also, they have separate wings for junior and senior kids.
And yes, they do have more focus on academics, but have few ECA,
Thank you everyone for your valuable inputs. It really helps a lot in forming a decision.
Hi Akansha
We were targeting somerville even before joining this group. That was based on reviews from our friend whose kids are already in Somerville.
Discussions and reviews shared on this group further helped to reaffirm our decision.
I guess its really difficult to categorize any particular school as best. It's more of a personal preference what we are looking for from a school and what we feel is best suited for our child. No single school offers best of everything.
Our main priorities were safety, good academics, good ECA, good infrastructure & missionary school(since we also studied in convent school).
Also we were considering/comparing based on requirements for entire 14 years (nursery ~ 12th). So safety and good academics were key for us.
Personally I found classrooms/corridors/lobby of somerville better than that of Cambridge (I just visited senior wing, not sure about junior wing).
Thanks Sangeet, even we have done our schooling from Convent. But, our school since was of the British era therefore, our campus was huge. So, was a little disappointed after visiting school. Had similar expectations in mind. Also, do all students get to participate in events or only select few get chance.
Sorry, I am asking too many questions as I am new to Noida and don't know anyone here for first-hand reviews. One of our family friend's kid goes to Somerville - Vasundhra. any idea which one is better Noida or Vasundhra. Thx
Yes, the school campus was not as big/good as we were expecting it.
However personally we find it almost comparable with Cambridge/VBPS campus.
For ECA, as far as we know, in initial years, equal opportunities are given to everyone. However in higher classes, as it turns towards competitions, there are selections done for every event. ( This is what we heard).
Not much information about Somerville-Vasundhra.
Our case was actually funny. We didnt get any confirmation mail from them after interaction. They called us one day and asked if we had submitted the fees..We told we were never informed about getting selected. Then they gave us one day to collect the form and the next working day to submit the fees.
I think that is the dilemma for all of us as to which school to block the seat in. Somerville is closer to our home plus we are also thinking not just for nursery but also for standards 1 onwards when getting admission in any good school would be difficult as they have written tests for such young children and also seats are less.
