NEW DELHI: Parents are confused as to how schools are going to calculate the neighbourhood criteria that are a part of the guidelines given by directorate of education. Also, they are worried about the sibling criteria in case of a single child.

According to the DoE guidelines released on Saturday, an applicant within the first kilometre of the school with a sibling admitted there will get first preference. But parents are wondering on what basis the areas under the first kilometre and subsequent distance gradations will be earmarked.

"We are getting queries on whether the admission is going be on the basis of distance from the feeder branch or the main branch," said Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery.com. He added that parents are also confused about the system with which the distance and the areas will be calculated.

Senior government officials clarified that schools can decide the areas under the distance criteria with the hope that the mapping will be done reasonably and transparently.

Meanwhile, parents living in areas with lesser density of schools are a worried lot. Rashi Kumar, a resident of Tilak Nagar, said though there are schools in her area, they are few in number and not to her liking.

I also want to know that if there is no school in your neighborhood as well as no sibling then what will happen to their kids.

Hi ,

Do schools ( 298 school) have started their addmission ?

Same case with me.

I stay in punjabi bagh area, we have first child and also not alumni of near by area school, there are two schools in this area hansraj model and nc jindal, but both have their own admission criteria, so they will be giving same prefrence to child residing in 1km and 6km, also they will give preference to other criteria such as alumni and manegement quota.

So how is this difrentiated rules for school is justified?

same case with me.

Can anybody suggest what will happen to the forms I have already submitted in the schools...Do i need to reapply again with the new criteria?????

What is the guarantee that schools in the neighborhood will not ask for donations later on for sustaining admission of the kids as they could not sell the management quota seats as per the new criteria???

I am having single child and I hardly have any good school in Uttam nagar.
Very few private schools of Janakpuri which lies within 2 KM range is giving the equal preference to the forms with 0-10 KM.

How I can get a good school for my ward?

Various Vikaspuri and Dwarka schools lies beyound 6 KM criteria.

How govt. can seek justice to parents if we have separate admission process for private schools and schools on govt land.

A good number of 298 schools on govt land are lying in Dwarka and Vikaspuri area.

Along with sibling, first child should also be considered.

Indraprastha International School, Dwarka has mentioned following in the nursery criteria:

Proof of residence.(as per norms of Directorate of Education)

Does this include Rent / Lease Agreement?
