DOCUMENTS MANDATORY FOR NURSERY ADMISSIONS-Courtesy AdmissionsNursery.com |
Nursery hurdle: Seniors pass on tips TIMES NEWS NETWORK
New Delhi: You don’t recover from the nursery admission experience quickly and parents who successfully admitted their kids last year are now “seniors”, extending a helping hand to the “juniors”, gearing up for the process this year. Advice is being offered and accepted on the nature of documents to keep ready, the number of schools to apply and feedback is being gathered on how the schools perform later.
“Last year, I had help from seniors,” says Sreeju Krishnan, a software engineer who admitted his daughter last year and is now helping his friend’s daughter get admission. “I have told my friend to apply to at least 10-15 schools. I’m also collecting information on the criteria for points. A few schools that I’ve approached are selling forms but there are no instructions to go with them,” he says.
Vaishali Batra is more concerned about the timing of the admission process. “I have to go to Mumbai, as a family member has to undergo operation,” says Batra. As she waits for further information, she gets her documents ready. “I don’t plan to apply to more than 10 schools.”
There are a large number of documents that the parents need to produce before the schools. Several schools demand that the name of the child be printed on the birth certificate and it can take anywhere between two and three weeks to get such a certificate from the municipal corporations.
“My first concern was the birth certificate,” says Surina Singhal, a doctor seeking admission for her daughter, “Then I got my school-level certificates out for the alumni points. I’m really banking on them.” Based in Dashrathpuri, she feels she will “lose distance points everywhere”. She is also gathering feedback on how schools fare third-grade onwards. “At nursery level, most schools are excellent but parents start getting dissatisfied by third onwards.”
Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com has been holding talks to help out parents. “Parents ask me if they should dress formally or informally for document verification and informal interactions with schools. Parents who are not very fluent in English ask if they can speak in Hindi, how they can get their kids into ‘branded’ schools and whether their qualifications will help them after RTE implementation,” he says.

As you and Mr Bij are helping the parent community 24/7..365 days..taking out time from your hectic schedule.... its really creditable !!
Sir, Thanks for your Compliments..Expecting more parents would come forward to help the new parents in need.
Yes Lathaaji we require volunteer parents.
Hi,
I just wanted to know if the affidavit (for first child) required by every school is in original or a xerox copy can work.
Or just like multiple original birth certificates, I need to have multiple affidavits ready to hand over to the school.
Original Affidavits have to be submitted for each schools. You can multiple affidavits but requirements of each school may differ and few schools zsk to mention the school name in it.
Just to add, its always better to have multiple originals made. However, I must point out some schools did take xerox.
The communication channels are pathetic, two guys sitting on adjacent desks in the school will give you conflicting information. so be safe.
Hi Mr. Vora
Can schools refuse admission to kids with special needs like dyslexia the child is already mainstreamed
. This query is for class 1 and 2. is it covered under RTE.?
Dear Kamaldeep
Pls go through the following article (Mr Sibal Quote)
Dear Sumit ,
Many thanks for your reply. But this article doesn't say anything clearly on dyslexia and learning disabilities which is very different from Mental retardation per se. here the child has specific learning needs but IQ is high , still cant be in the same class .
Please
help me what to do as schools like shriram , both vasant vihar and Gurgaon , vasant valley , which have the special ed department are refusing , where will parents like me go since our children cant go to schools without special ed department . So i want to know what is the legal recourse and do these schools have the right to refuse under SEN( special education needs ) category. Also will the regular criteria like distance etc apply to such cases at all . We are staying in Noida and Step by step is across the road and they are also saying there is no vacancy now or even in the coming batch .
We are really very stressed , in any case the child is suffering and we are also suffering cos we are not getting admission for him .
Please help us sumit and advise what we should do.
many thanks
Kamaldeep,We will get back to you within day or two after consulting RTE activist regarding any latest development after this article .
You dont require multiple birth certificates for sure. None of the schools demanded it in original atleast at time of forms submission.
Of course admission time would require all documents in original.
Also, NONE of the school in North Delhi (where I interacted) asked for birth certificates with child's name.
