Nursery Admissions in Delhi NCR 2024-25

Admission Dates | Admission Criteria | Compare schools | Fee Details

I have had multiple discussions with admission councelers, parents, educationists etc. The discussion was whether to send my oct 2010 born daughter to nursery in 2014-2015 session. Though I and also her play school teachers feel, she is ready but I cant ignore the fact that if I send her this year she will be youngest in her class. She may or may not cope up. May be she does well in nursery but in later years she faces problems and even if she does well academically what about physical growth which is imp say in sports. There are chances that she may lag behind in some or other aspect if I send her this year. However confident I feel of my parenting, of her growth but the fact remains she will be youngest in her class. So I want all the parents whose kids are after sep 2010 born but still want to send their kids in nursery next year, have u thought of this aspect and if yes, whats your view point. I would also urge those parents to share their experiences whose kids are youngest in their classes.

Hello Nidhi,

Thats quite an interesting topic you have brought up!

My son is Feb 2011 born (4 - 5 months younfer) and we are also considering options to get him admitted in Nursery for the next academic year 2014 - 2015. The simple reason is if he does not get admitted next year, is it really worth wasting the whole year? Since he is already started to spend 3 hours in a pre-school,  I am unsure how much difference it may make if he starts going to Nursery in a main school, may be he will just spends 1-2 hours extra almost doing the similar stuff. If you happen to have any repercussions, you may consider to continue with your pre-school nursery next year and then consider to get your daughter admitted to K.G in 2015 - 2016.

Hope this helps!

Hi Nidhi,

My twins are Jan 2011 born. I am thinking of following the school admission guidelines for their age. If some schools are ready to take the child in Nursery then there will be others who will also be of the same age.

Also I strongly believe that given the proper guidance the child learns things. The age factor is not very important since here we are talking of a few months of age difference. And if you feel during his nursery that she is not able to handle it then you can always make her repeat the year.

These are my views. Your opinions on them are welcome.

Hi Nidhi,

My son is Nov 2010 born, and like you we are also facing the same doubts ... what have you decided finally ? Going to get her admitted in 2014 session ?

My son is March, 2011 and will be 3yrs old in March, 2014 . I am also thinking of nursery admission in 2014-15. ...otherwise his whole year will be wasted ...

Kindly let me know good school in South Delhi...

I am getting her admitted in Pre nursery this year as I think its tougher to get through Nursery anywhere. She will be the eldest in her class but thats ok

my daughter is Jan 11 born.. and she is not the youngest in class... infact i know atleast 3 more who took admission in nursery 2014-15 batch and 2011 born.

Hi,

i'm also bit confused for this fact.

My son will be of 2yrs and 11month by MArch 31st 2014 and he is not eligible for nursery!!!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You should not even think of sending him to nursery as even if he goes he will be youngest in the class and that may affect him. Whats the hurry. Its the best month to be born. Send him next year when he is about 4 yr old. That's my suggestion. Rest is your call

Hello Mukesh,

Yours seem to be the exceptional case where the child does not seem to meet the minimal age criteria of 3 years as of March 31st 2014, so I guess you may have to wait anyways for next session. My suggestion would be to consider your child getting admitted to a good pre-nursery school this year. Thanks!

Yes Anand is right, most well known schools have 3.6 yrs criteria for nursery admissions in April 2014, the problem arises when the child is 3yr 5months and fails to meet this entry age criteria, which is the case with my daughter and we are left with only few counted schools to consider where entry age is 3 yrs. I also believe pre-nursery is right for your child.
Thanks

Hi, my daughter is Jan-2010 born and is currently in pre nursery in suncity for 2013-14. We are happy at her progress and most importantly she is happy.  Though she was eligible for nursery for 2013-14 in some of the good schools, I was more than happy to let her go through a relaxed pace of learning...she has her whole life to work ...let her enjoy now !!! plus 1year of so hardly makes a different .I was very sure, I didnt want my daughter to start learning and writing ABC/123 before she is 4 years or more....

Thats what my thought process is...one year here and there doesnt matter. more important is for them to build their confidence and I feel being the youngest may hamper in confidence building...
