Not only professional / educational points I have a great objection on sibling but no point for first child.. its unfair to all those parents who have first child, I think there must be some points to first child. All hope are flow ... when I didnot find my ward's name on many schools list.... anyway I am lucky that I got chance at Cambridge School... which is slight far from my put of area... but I have to go through that...
Indeed a mockery of the nursery education system ! Removal of profession and education criteria in the eleventh hour has snatched away the fair chance of getting admission of our kids and made many parents like us to go in depression. What a discrimination that some schools have already implemented it and some have used the same old criterion and disclosed the result. I totally agree with the view of parents like Mr. Kashyap and Dr.Parul.

Mr Vohra may please guide us as to what we could do now. Writ petition filed by him against RSJ Modern School is a right step. Similar step may be taken by aggrieved parents and Mr. Vohra for other schools. In the name of transparency via point sysyem, barring few schools like Mater Dei , no other school ,by and large ,has followed it sincerely and parents whose children have not got shortlisted do n't know even how much points they have secured. Some schools like Bharti Vidya Bhawan, K.G Marg shortlisted forms on the basis of earliest date of form submission by parents despite a clear stipulation of DoE that 15th Jan., was the last date of submission. Atleast a draw of lots would have been better.

If parents have filled up forms in 10-15 schools and child's name is not figuring in even one, certainly it indicates that not only supply-demand mismatches but also wrong policies & bad governance prevails in school admission. It also indicate that there is virtually no regulation and control of DoE on Delhi's schools.

Can Education Minister of Delhi take up the matter and address the concerns of aggrieved parents and do justice?
The point system for school admission is quite confusing and parents like us not able to get enough points. The following are the point’s creteria in most of the schools in east delhi.
1. Neighborhood
0->5 km - 20
5->10 km – 15
10-20 km - 5 25
2 Parents with transferable job(Central Government/ State Govt. Employee Only) - 15
3 Sibling - 5
4 Child with Special needs - 10
5 Child Attending playschool - 5
6 Girl Child - 10
7 Single Parent - 5
8 Physically disabled parents - 10
9 Parent with Sports Background (State /National level only) - 5
10 Questionnaire - 5
11 Alumini - 5

Total Ponts 100

It will be very difficult for normal middle class educated parents to get their child admission in school. In my case (i have boy) I am not eligible in point’s number 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11.
Same could be true for thousands of parents all over Delhi.
I am eligible for point’s number 1, 5, 10.
We both are post graduate and still our child not able to get enough points for admission.
How can we get 50-60 points, so that our child gets admission in school?
Thanks to Mr Sumit for raising voice for the right cause ,its really hard to believe that rules could be changed at the last moment and dreams could be shattered in this manner also,
athar moin
I have only one daughter and educated from government school, thus i am not eligible for sibling and anumunai points required for getting admissing for daugher. Since i am post graduate and director in a Company and my wife is a graduate, i was heavely relying on points i was expecting from parents educations and parents profession. I got myself registered into The Indian School, Gyan Bharti Scool and Birla Vidhya Niketan but unable to score sufficient points to get a seat for my daughter.

I am tyring to recover from this horrorable experience, and thinking about further course of action.

Can anybody guide me.
Heritage Rohini also changed the criteria and we lost due to this only. While we were rest assured to get thriugh it, we do not figure even in second(waiting) list. Last moment change in fact should not have been done by the schools.
THIS IS A BIG NEXUS WHO HAS GOT THIS DONE.LOT OF MONEY HAS BEEN PAYED FOR THIS.
Most of the businessmen (nothing against them) were pushing for this and they have got success in this.

Now from the service class they have only one asset with them i.e. their EDUCATION now that has also been taken away by not giving marks to their qualifications and their job.

Most of the good schools are located in south Delhi or central Delhi. In East Delhi there is not even a single school(Except Ahlcon International School) which can be compared with the so called BEST SCHOOLS of Delhi like DPS,R.K.PURAM / MOTHERS INTERNATIONAL/BAL BHARATI PUBLIC SCHOOL ,CJM etc. Hence The kids of the service class people putting up in East Delhi can never study in these good schools because East Delhi is totally out of this Distance criteria.(zero or minimum marks of distance).
People argue about school to home distance. This is rubbish. In most of the cases the buses of the schools who are very near to homes say 5-7 kms takes as much (or say 10-15 minutes)time as the school which are 15-20 kms away. The reason is the bus of school which are closer to home pik and drop each kid in whole of the nearby area whereas the school which are far away COMES STRAIGHT TO THE LOCALITY.

We should fight this issue for once and for all. In my opinion Distance should not become the obstacle in getting good and quality education .In last but not the least All of us can recall the stories of our grand parents and parents stating THEY USED TO TRAVEL MILES TO STUDY IN SCHOOL. regard's to all of you.
Hi Sumit,
The whole admission process, was made a laughing stock .
I see no reason why , my daughter wa not shortlisted by Modern School.I myself , and my wife are Engineers. We live at K.G.MARG,hardly a KM away.Candidate is a baby girl.
I work as Manager with a reputed MNC, my wife is a Govt, Group A gazetted Officer.
I simply dont have any clue, how much marks i got in Modern School??
why my ward is not shortlisted ??
Just Imagine, all these things are happening, and we parents are SIMPLY HELPLESS !!!!!
We should do something ..
Do count me in in any of your initiatives in this regard...

Yes it should be raised in a big way only. Not only the withdrawl of points but also the timing and the manner in which it was executed is highly horrible for parents like us who suffered because of this and feel like traumatised like never before. How one can issue directive later, when filling up of forms was already closed?
Had it been earlier parents could have filled forms for other schools as well? No problem at all. We should have uniform policies across all the schools. This, changing criterion, seem unjustified in a way that criterion which was there for schools based on which parents filled up forms accordingly, is changed that too when option of filling forms was already closed. And if criterion were to be revised then why it was not made applicable to schools who had already declared results. It is like as if we are handcuffed and are whipped at the last stage, and only option with us is to bear it and do nothing. Through your blog i noticed that there are lot of parents who filled up forms for atleast 15-20 schools but got admission for their ward nowhere. This clearly shows there is some huge gap in our policies, our systems.

how first boy child will get addmission ??don't know this system has been designed??only corruption and donations

As regards the Girl child issue. we have not gained any benefits. We are struggling like those with a single
male child. The Indian School,BlueBells, summerfields have not allocated pointss for girl child.
WE CAME ACROSS AN AGENTS WHO PROMISSED TO GET ADMISSION OF OUR CHILD IN ANY SCHOOL OF OUR CHOICE AND WOULD TAKE THE AMOUNT ONLY AFTER WE DEPOSIT THE FEES IN THE SCHOOL OF OUR CHOICE. CHARGES ACCORDING TO HIM FOR VARIOUS SCHOOLS ARE AS FOLLOWS: MODERN HUMAYUN ROAD AND VASANT VIHAR 8 TO 10 LKH, DPS ANY BRANCH 5 LKH, MONTFORT 4 LKH, SANSKRITI 15 LKH AND THE LIST GOES ON. AND WE CAME TO KNOW FROM OTHER PARENTS THAT THEY CAME ACROSS SIMILAR AGENTS OFFERING SIMILAR DEALS AND IT IS NORMAL PROCEDURE TO PAY TO GET YOUR CHILD ADMITTED TO THE SCHOOL OF YOUR CHOICE.

THIS IS THE REAL REASON WHY MOST OF THE SCHOOLS DON`T FOLLOW ANY POINTS SYSTEM AND MAKE HUGE MONEY BY GIVING ADMISSION TO CHILDREN OF PARENTS WHO PAY
.THEY ALSO SAY THAT IF WE HAD CONTACTED THEM BEFORE THE LIST WAS OUT THE CHARGES WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH LOWER.
I was not able to go through any form as this was a major criteria for us and we have filled the forms on these basis. Now I dont know what to do as all the lists are over my son was not able to get admission because of this.
Dear Parents,
Plz dont lose hearts,Mr Verma is saying right that many parents have registered their wards in multiple schools,& if they got confirmation in any 2-3 school then definatly they would have to choose one only & to leave 1-2 seats for others.Like me,as I ahve got confirmation in 5 schools, but I can choose only 1 out of 5 & hence leaving 4 seats for parents like you.& ofcourse there would be many more like me to do the same,so plz plz dont lose your heart.Hopefully all of you must get seat for your beloved child.Best of Luck Guys.
