I : It's official. Parents' profession or educational background cannot decide a child's admission.

And schools that follow this "discriminatory" criterion for nursery admission will have to revise their points system.

State Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely made this clear while speaking to Hindustan Times on Thursday.
"How can a child's admission be based on how much his or her parents have studied or where they work? This is discrimination," he said.

The government has already cracked down on some city schools, which have had to revise their points system just a few days before the first list.

Bluebells School International and Gyan Bharti School in south Delhi are among those who have deleted the profession and education criteria and reshuffled points.

Under the 100-point system, schools have to compulsorily disclose their admission criteria and distribute 100 points among them. Alumni, siblings and distance are among the factors on which Delhi schools admit children.

The government's tough stand could mean that sought-after institutions such as Sanskriti School, Delhi Public School, Mathura Road and Alhcon International School also revise their points system.

"We can't comment about changing the criteria as we haven't heard anything from the Directorate of Education yet," said Abha Sahgal, principal, Sanskriti School, which has accorded 40 points for parents' profession.

"This action has come a little too late. It should have been done when schools were still accepting application forms," said Sumit Vohra, who runs admissionsnursery.com, a website to guide parents.

START A DISCUSSION AND SEE HOWZ THE RESPONSE,HOW MANY PARENTS READY TO JOIN,AND THAN TAKE ACTION ACCORDINGLY
starting the whole process again????again we have to stand in queue waste lots of money , what about our money which we have invested in so many forms maximum forms cost us an average of Rs 300 who will pay for it. remove parents profession and education points what remain will be sibling and alumni where will general public go. Better do the draw like mount carmel, because whatever points DOE decide people will never get satisfied because the one who will not get the seat will cry either me or u. Changing points at last moment is absolutely wrong it means they have given us wrong information and taken money from us what nonsense.
i totally agree with mr ritesh...and would like to add tht above money they should also give back our time..whch we took out frm our offices to stand in a que,to get the form submit the form ,then make ourselves available for interactions..if they r capable of giving back tht time, then we can think abt the change in criteria........
Hey come on we all have to pay price for everything... Please see a larger prespective that we are bringing in a change for good.... TIME, MONEY, EFFORTS all are appreciable but that is the equal time we spent on this forum to raise voice against inequality and bringing law breakers to abide by the rule book.
