Dear Mr Vohra - WHY CHANGE OF JOB FROM OVERSEAS SHOULD NOT BE A TRANSFER?

Dear Mr Vohra,

I have been keen follower of your website. But I fail to understand your guidance in terms of transfer points. I fully understand that NCR cases should not fall into category of Transfer.

But why does a JOB CHANGE that prompt a physical movement will also not fall into this. I have relocated from Singapore to Delhi - Change of Job- only for my Kid Admmission. I took such a major step for my Kid sake.

Forget my case, think about parents relocating to Delhi from South india as there is a change of Job.

Why these cases are NOT TRANSFER in your opinion.

In my understanding, the whole logic of govt giving point to transfer cases is to save parents from HARDSHIP and to give them fair chance of getting admission as any other delhiite would.

Please think on it again as we are AT PAR with those are are real transfers, Change of Job should not be a constraint in real sense.

Looking forward your reply

Dear Lalita,

My questions was simple, its not meant to hurt anyone sentiments, there are transfer points given by government, and there are people utilizing it.

My point is OVERSEAR CHANGE of JOB should also fall in preview of transfer as they are same to cases like getting transfer within same Job

For the current yr all transfers are be considered the same overseas or interstate but each school has put in a time slab- how ever it's been misused n the bottom line is no trf points in nursery.

As per Mr Vohhra guidelines, Change of Job is not considered a transfer irrespective of fact if its from Overseas or any other part of India.

Thats the clarification I am expecting from Mr Vohra.

Definitely, NCR cases should be outside transfer preview, thats where many FAKE cases are and even real transfers or relocations for cases like me are SUFFERING.

Gyan Bharti School for example has just now issues a guideline that says CHANGE OF JOB is not transfer, doesnt make much sense as why a person needs to be in a same Job, how does that differ and matter?

As per Guidelines if you are genuine parent and transferred  from oversees between

1Jan 2013 to 5 feb 2014,you will get 5 points. Rest it will depend on DOE and school specific after so many fraud cases.

Hi Sakshi,

MOTHERS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL is NOT ACCEPTING despite pleading with them, they are not even allowing me to meet Principle. I am a genuine and have all documents whatsoever to prove it.

GYAN BHARTI has issued guidelines 2 days back at their website that CHANGE OF JOB is not considered.

Please advise what should I do now?

If we leave our personal issues for moment, and try to understand the logic behind the point system, there are two big points that come to mind:

- People who have traditionally lived in Delhi benefit from points like Alumni, Sibling etc.

- Therefore, people who have recently moved in to Delhi should also get some benefit. And therefore, the concept of transfer points

At the outset, this seems simple enough. However, at the closer look, we see that folks who benefit from Alumni and Sibling, get that benefit in only one (or at best a couple of schools). But the transfer cases get the benefit everywhere.

This is exactly why, the transfer points should have been given, in conjunction with something else - for example, first child points.

Lastly, I fail to understand why the moderators and other people in the forum are creating such a noise about transfer cases, but do not take into cognizance the fact that the 0-8km=70 points system is completely flawed. The location point system should have been stratified i.e. 0-1km=70 points, 1-3kms=50 points and so on. This would have given parents in proximity to schools higher weightage. And removed some of the many of the distant transfer cases.

This is exactly the system that was followed by quite a few schools last year.

If we have to make a big fuss about the transfer points, please also consider the location system. What the new criteria have done is everyone is that - people in the 8 kms radius have applied is many more schools than they would have normally. And as a results, every school has multiple 75 pointers (who are the happiest lot) and large numbers of 70 pointers (who are the unhappiest). Look at the lists of the 75 points in schools that have displayed lists - and you see the same names everywhere.

Hi Dibyendu.

I totally echo with your thoughts too but lets open seperate discussion for it, for now I would like to stick to this dicussion as why Schools are REJECTING overseas change of Job as transfer.

Regards

Mr. Anuj, my son is 4+, first born. Last year we didn't get admission in any school. this time we are again trying our luck. am here in delhi for the past 20 yrs. came for graduation, got married to someone who is also not from delhi but his job is here in delhi. So we are not eligible for any sibling or alumni or transfer points. we only get 70 pts in every school. so tell me why should your child should benefit from 5 pts of transfer and mine first born son shouldn't?

Dear Jully,

I am a Delhiite and born and brought up here. I went to aborad 4 years back.

I have not invented Transfer rule, its there by Govt. My question was simple as why Change of Job is NOT CONSIDERED transfer.

Secondly, having said that, the REAL ISSUE is really distance. But everyone perception is that its TRANSFER. Transfer points are there every year for benefitting parents who have been relocated.

The issue has been created due to Distance made common ground.

Anyways, I am a Genuine transfer, govt has given 5 points to genuien cases, my question remains as why change of Job is not explicitly defined as Transfer.

@Anuj : My question is why you are raising this now. I mean have you claimed transfer points in all schools you have applied in? if yes, are few of those considering change of job as transfer?

I also changed my job from overseas to Delhi last year and have not claimed transfer points in any school. Although i would be very happy if schools do start considering change of job cases as transfer but my understanding of the transfer points is that if you are taking job at a new location, this is your choice and this also means that you are going to a favorable location because no one takes a new job at unfavorable location. So when you are going to a favorable location(by choice), you don't need any special treatment.

Logic behind transfer points is to giv ebenfit to those who have seen a Job movement. As I said, this critieria is there every year and should include parents like you and me who have seen physical movement.

Issue is created due to Distance made a common ground. Why cases like us not fall under genuine tranfer.

Favourable location and unfavourable location is not a question here. How about people relocating from South, East or West India due to change of Job? There isa physical movement just like there is a transfer within a SAME JOB. How does it differ?

All of us are fighting for our individual benefit. Number of seats are the same and unfortunately less compared to the demand in better schools. Every guideline would favour some and exclude others. Why is everyone shut on girls quota, alumni points, sibling points, ews quota?
