How Schools are making a fool out of us!

I just came across a loophole which I think we as parents are missing out. There have been a lot of touts asking for money in the market and they assure you a seat in a good school. I happened to go in to detail of one of the discussion happening with parents at one of the school while applying and got to know one of the points which I thought to be worth sharing....

The schools are putting in fake admission forms. For eg: I have been allotted application no. 114 by one school then after me the next person is being allotted application no. 119 by the same school. Thus there are every 5 fake application forms being put by school for every one genuine application form.

This way if a school says that it has received 5000 applications then there must be at least 3500 fake forms which only the school has put in. Even if there is lottery, as per law of probability there would be a decent chance of those fake forms getting lucky in that lottery. Just a few handful of genuine students would get seats. Later on, the fake applications would be used by school to make money and take un recorded donations.

This point system is making parents paranoid and everybody is at par at 70 points and is scared that how will my ward make it to a good school.

The schools are faking applications and showing in the public 4-5 times of number of actual application. In case of draw if that fake application number comes out in lottery, the schools are going to sell that seat in the market to desperate parents. Then who is going to check that fake application's genuineness.

Please think over and escalate to DOE.

Things at the ground level are never as per guidelines, however things are much better this time around.

there are many ways schools can manipulate this - during lottery, fake applications, giving away dubious sibling / alumni marks. No one can control everything.

Even if DoE does random audits, this can be concealed very well.

Sakshi, how we will check or make sure there is no manipulation while draw, means all forms which have been received by schools have been taken into consideration for draw, as most of the schools have diferent dates for draw before displaying 28th feb list.

i deposited two forms in lancers convent, prashant vihar. i too get diff. in form no. this is a matter of concern. i am sure there will be 'hera pheri' in lottery. schools, which have been deprived off their management quota, will not let go their seats of donations easily. but, we are helpless. there are no clear guidelines on lottery system. this new system was looking very good at glance, but as new things are coming in light, we parents are still finding themselves at recieving end.

Hi everyone...
Well in view of the above concern, the matter lands to the fact that instead of the restricted 20% management quota from previous years, there is good possibility that schools might end up eating 50% quota in this fashion.
I have been questioning this lottery scheme from the beginning and kept wondering why no questions are being raised as it needed no rocket science to understand this ploy... nor does it require 100 on IQ scale to reason who is behind it !!

One more thing which is not considered is that even if the child lives within 8 kms he/she stand a very little chance because majority or almost all the seats will be alloted before being available for those children getting only the distance's 70 points, as the remaing three categories of sibling, transfer case and alumni will definately get/ eat the lion's share. Dont forget the general seats are still very less as compared to the demand.
