No system is perfect, but in general I feel this is in the right direction. It is us parents who make some schools coveted ones (success ratio 1:50) and other decent ones fail to fill their seats.
Centralized system would make it easier for everyone, even schools are spending lot of manpower to sell / collect forms and then enter data in computers and save paper forms for audit trail.
Parents should be able to submit one application with a selection preference order mentioned for various schools. Online portal to calculate points automatically. As per your choices made during submission you should get a school seat allocated.
raman singh your point is very valid. centralized system perhaps will be the better option.
Just did a rough calculation of all the applicants on the list put out by DPS RKP for their DPS VV Junior School on their website and there is no chance for 70 pointers even for the draw of lots, the draw of lots would happen amongst the 75 points' applicants only.....
That is why I called the present guidelines a complete flop system. A few on this forum disagreed with me but this is true. I wonder what was the theme of these guidelines of our LG. Most of the seats will be occupied by siblings and other categories with distance plus points. No chance for freshers.
The guidelines did not work on technicality of the scenario. Initially majority on this forum showed big happiness and now....................... cry...and after 31 march.... go traumatic. What is this?
i am happy with the guidelines as no management quota, increase in seats by 25%
make it better by removing trf, alumni
sansan, what is the fault of those transferred to serve the country. You speak like this because u don't have that problem. removing alumni seems to be justified but not transfer. We need to work out a system equally providing opportunity to large numbers. Can you suggest how to cross check transfers, rent agreements for their genuineness.
can not stop providing incentives just becoz some crooks misuse the same.
i belive trf should not be a criteria unless the child was already in a school at the place from which he is being transferred.
rent agreements can be made easily legally, take a place on rent 7-8 months before the admission starts, get it registered at sub-registrar, next month just vacate the place, now you have genuine legal rent agreement registred at sub-registrars office.
law enforcement is not public's domain, govt has to do it.
guidelines indirectly affects me too as someone or other in the extended family / freinds is always stuck in the admission situation & I have to chip in by standing in lines.
as a citizen it affects everyone whenever any thing effects education
I feel they are not completely flop but a big step in the right direction.
Some changes for next year could be dividing the slab in KM further for each 2Km.
Getting rid of transfer points.
Sibling points must stay & I ve a strong belief the sibling must be granted admission irrespective of the distance.
Your idea of Lottery for all as i believe is what you are vouching for doesn't seem to me to go down well with me and looks completely illogical.
Centralised admission system seems a long distant dream to me, it requires a lot of data, infrastructure for the govt to put in...
Yash, I am writing for the present guidelines only. The one you are speaking about, could have been thought well between April to December 2013. Now claiming paving for next year. Are u sure the next session guidelines will be equally or comparatively more good than the present one?
We will wait for that and pray to be better than this.
@ Yash
Yes right in case of all DPS all seats will be accommodated by siblings and alumni points. I think alumni points should be abolished which schools never accept and I am totally against it.
For 117 seats, on the 1st three pages itself the no. of applicants scoring >= 75 are 145, didn't count afterwords, there are 3 more pages to go....
for EWS 60 seats at DPS MR and some other school also, status already beat 1000 mark. who think it will provide good chances to distant areas also. Once it is cleared for 0-1 kms, what is the need to make distant residing parents running for far flung area schools, clearing knowing the fact they will not get it.
Who is responsible for their precious time, travelling expenses, substituting office goers? I think the present guidelines and indeed the government.
