Get nursery forms till January 15 in Delhi

NEW DELHI: As per the proposed schedule of nursery admission for 2013-14, admission forms will be available from January 1 to 15. Also, schools will be given a month's time to process the forms and interview parents before they come out with the first list of shortlisted candidates by February 15. The second list will follow on February 28th.

The entire process is likely to be completed by March 31st. The proposed schedule was submitted to the education minister Kiran Walia by the Directorate of Education on Friday. A formal government notification on the same is expected by next week.

"To avoid confusion, most of the dates for 2013-14 session are the same as the last time," said a senior officer from education department. Delhi has approximately 1,200 odd private unaided schools with around 1.5 lakh entry level seats. The minister had insisted upon giving sufficient preparation time to parents who are gearing to get their kids admitted to schools, said sources in the DoE.

"I wanted that the schedule be released at least a month in advance to avoid any panic among the parents," said Kiran Walia, education minister. Meanwhile, the admission guidelines to be issued to the schools by the government have not yet been finalized and will take few more meetings. The department also ruled out any probability of a common admission form for private schools.

@Sofi

Regarding point 3: Not getting your child admitted to any school isn't ideal. It is far better to get your child into a school at least and then of course the other options like the ones outlined above by Sakhsi are open as well, even if that school isn't your first choice or second or even third. Thats my personal opinion.

Regarding point 4: Buying prospectus is not mandatory, but only on paper. I saw schools point blank refusing to give forms if not bought with prospectus. So don't get too hung up. We will need to be a part of the system, at least for the time being, even if it is imperfect.

Shortlist  school which are in radius of 3-5 km .

Sakshi Mam Thanks for updating the most important admission schedule all parents were waiting for. So the same schedule as expected.  It's known fact again Govt. is very much in favour of Pvt. Schools.  No change expected and hope schools will be given more freedom than last year towards point system.  And parents should be aware that 6th Jan (Sunday), 12th Jan (2nd Saturday), 13th Jan Sunday, 14th (may be or not be due to Makar Sankaranthi) Schools will be closed.

yes madam you are spot on
