got even after all the toil...but that is the case with many parents..there is neither any fault of you nor of your little kid...it's happening with this wrong policy of DOE year after year when the seats in a handful good schools of Delhi are limited and number of applicant is very high..thus keeping many eligible kids out without any reason...if only could Ganguly committee recommendations be followed in true letter n spirits whereby neighourhood was the strong criteria such problems would not be there..but then new good schools are not spread everywhere across the Delhi ..and with known schools situated in some clusters it becomes hugely impossible to the nearby residents also to secure admission in thus schools by having other criteria of Sibling, Alumni, etc also in tandem.
There are total 1242 Unaided Pvt Schools recognized by DOE in Delhi out of which only 150 plus are established and well known who are getting maximum applications from the parents..there are total 177 schools in South, South East districts but most of we parents file for only for the known 30-40 schools of the area...and maximum competition happen for these schools only..
Some of schools you had applied went for Lucky Draw like Gyan Bharti..and its just sheer chance to get in or out in that case..
I think the option now should be to search for some good nearby school in and around your area..and also wait and see for any 2nd waitlist (if any) in the schools already applied by you..
(you can check for some of these schools like Lalit Mahajan SVM School, Vasant Vihar,Near CPWD Colony; LAL BALHADUR SHASTRI SMARAK (JAVM) SR, SEC. SCHOOL, SEC-3 , R.K .PURAM; ST. JOHNS PUBLIC SCHOOL,Maidan Garhi; BAL NIKETAN PUBLIC SCHOOL, Sangam Vihar; MALVIYA PUBLIC SCHOOL, Malviya Nagar; RAJDHANI PUBLIC SCHOOL, near sainik farms; D ROSES PUBLIC SCHOOL, D block Saket; ST. ANTHONYS SR. SEC SCHOOL, SDA Hauz Khas...these names are just for example..you know better of your surrounding area..)--these are average schools but then one has to secure seats and move ahead to try in sought after schools once vacancy arises there...
Wish you all the best...i'm sure your ward will get a good school in times to come..…

Interesting Questions asked in the Registration Form:
1. What are your reasons of choosing DLF Public School?
(most general question asked by almost all schools in form or during interaction--pls read more about the specific school from its website, feedback from parents in this Forum, real feedback from the parents of existing students while you visit the school--to answer such question---schools generally want to know any specific thing in your preference which aligns the school's mission or focus--during interaction one can build upon this question and lead the interview in a favourable way sure shot to get impressed by the interviewer).
2. In what ways can you help the school ?(parents' professional qualifications can help in imparting some academic help to the school; your hobbies or expertise in fine arts like dance, music, painting etc. can be fruitful to students if the need arise; can be some forms of answer).
3. Write down your evaluation of your child's growth. (as a parent you know your child best, his/her strengths, weaknesses, special intersts, emotional maturity, inquisitiveness, something special about your child--pls stress upon the factors that are unique to your kid than giving the general diplomatic answer).
All the Best,
Bij:)

This signifies a shift from the usual age of three plus that is being considered by other private schools. In Ahlcon Public School, while 20 points are reserved for children who are aged four but less than five as on March 31, 2011, 15 and 10 points are reserved for children aged less than four and three-and-a-half years respectively.School principal R K Sharma says, “A four-year-old child is able to cope with the pressures better than a three-year-old. I think four is an ideal age to be in school. The maturity level of a four-year-old is also more than a three-year-old. Also, the Right to Education (RTE) Act says a six-year-old should be ideally be admitted in Class I. That is why we are giving more weightage to four plus children in our school. Dear Sir/Madam,
Myself Dinesh Singh Negi, living in Nehru Nagar, New Delhi - 110065, would like to make an humble request if you can really guide me and all other fellow parents who are not lucky enough to get a name on the DOL done by schools for the admission of Nursery Standard on what should we do?
I'm a father of two, a 3 year old son and a 2 months old daughter, this whole admission process had shocked me from inside. The whole process of point and criteria, then form submission, then changing of points criteria in the middle, then allotment of management quota in some schools, some schools are fair enough to conduct an open draw and some school just announce the list on their notice board. I know and understand it's the same for every parent, some parents are lucky enough to get their ward on 5-6 schools and some are left with 1 or no choice.
Sir, this whole process is nothing less then a night mare believe me I'm having sleepless nights and too worried for the future of my kids in Delhi.
Just for your reference, I've applied on the following school but no luck.

esday as several schools declared their first list of candidates for admission to nursery classes.
Results announced by some of the ‘ sought- after’ institutions give the impression that admission is a prerogative of only those who have a sibling in the school or are children of an alumnus.
For instance, all the 77 candidates selected at Delhi Public School- Vasant Vihar branch have scored points either under the sibling or alumni category. Similarly, DPS- East of Kailash has shortlisted 56 candidates and only two of them haven’t qualified under either category.
All children selected under the general category at Mothers’ International School, too, are either of sibling or alumni criterion.
Pankaj Gupta, a resident of RK Puram, was confident of his son getting through in Ramjas School in his neighbourhood.
But just living in the vicinity of a school, he realised, was not enough.
“ I was scoring 25 points under the neighbourhood category. When I went to check the list, I was shocked to see that all the children who had secured the general seats have done so either under alumni or sibling criteria,” said Gupta. “ Is there no room for people like us?” The number of general seats has shrunk this year because of the 25 per cent reservation for children from economically weaker sections.
To make thing worse, city schools started setting aside a sizeable chunk of seats or giving maximum points for the alumni and sibling categories.
The results on Tuesday just corroborated that.
“ The education minister ( Arvinder Singh Lovely) announced in December that those who do not qualify under any of the criteria set by the school will also have seats set aside for them. That would have solved our problems,” said a parent who didn’t want to be identified.
It’s not clear if the minister’s announcement wasn’t communicated to the schools or the schools didn’t pay any heed to it.
“ I know a lot of parents who could not secure admission despite applying in 15 schools. They have to keep their children at home,” said Sumit Vohra, founder of an online forum on nursery admission.
DON’T FORGET
Pay admission fee and block your seat immediately and don’t wait for other schools to declare results
Keep all original documents ready
It’s best that both parents go to take admission.
Some schools insist on it
Don’t lose hope if you haven’t secured admission, as most schools will bring out the next admission list on Feb 28

r admission criteria. While most schools are following the usual point system, many have switched to a draw of lots.
Parents of three-year-olds say they are keeping tabs on the criteria to prepare for the stiff 'competition' for a nursery seat. Many parents TOI spoke to shared that they had been preparing for the past few weeks by doing a recce of schools, regularly scanning schools' websites, and by reading about the 'struggle' of parents who got their kids admitted last year.
"I have been doing research on the best schools for my son. I have visited 16-17 schools in west Delhi to meet the teachers, see the facilities and check out the classrooms. I realized that several schools that I was keen on were not so welcoming. I also found many good schools which were not even on my wish list," said Ishita Sengupta, who lives in Dwarka.
for quite some time."I have been doing research on the best schools for my son. I have visited 16-17 schools in west Delhi to meet the teachers, see the facilities and check out the classrooms. I realized that several schools that I was keen on were not so welcoming. I also found many good schools which were not even on my wish list," said Ishita Sengupta, who lives in Dwarka.
Another parent, Anjali Bhardwaj, from Vasant Kunj has been working on an excel sheet (Made By AdmissionsNursery.Com) for quite some time. "After my son had slept, I scanned the websites of schools for their parameters last year. I have a list of parameters ready for reference," she said while adding that she plans to apply to as many schools as possible.
While schools like Springdales and Ahlcon International have already released their parameters, Delhi Public School, Vasant Valley School and Mother's International School are likely to come out with their admission criteria by January 1. "We will announce our admission criteria on January 1. Parents will be allowed to apply online with no registration fee," said D R Saini, principal, DPS R K Puram. Tagore International School at Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash will admit children on the basis of a draw of lots, while Bal Bharati School at Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, Amity International and Apeejay School have decided to allocate a fixed number of seats for alumni, sibling, neighbourhood besides other categories. D K Bedi, principal, Apewjay School, Pitampura said, "Parents should not panic. They should wait for the second list if they don't make it in the first."

New Delhi With nursery admissions set to start from January 2 next year, many schools have come out with interesting criteria for choosing candidates.
Cambridge School, New Friends Colony, is awarding points to children whose parents hail from intercultural backgrounds. This, according to the school’s administrative officer, is part of the institution’s efforts to promote “cultural integration”. The school will also give extra points to children with special needs, as well as those who have physically challenged parents. Parents with special achievements will win five additional points for their children.
Springdales School will give extra points to children belonging to minorities. The school’s admission notice reads: “In keeping with our ethos and objectives, we will embrace a diverse mix of children from different communities, religions, regions, and linguistic groups. Aspirants must provide authentic proof that they qualify to be minorities, as defined by authorised bodies such as the Minorities Commission.”
The school will award the most points to people in the sibling (30) and alumni (25) criteria. This is still lower than last years’ 35 points awarded to children of the alumni. Also, first-born children will get 10 points at Springdales.
Children, whose parents are serving in civil and allied services/armed forces, will get 20 points (10 for each parent) in DPS RK Puram.
Even though many parents and some schools under the banner of the Delhi State Private Schools Management Association had written to the directorate, seeking scrapping of the sibling and alumni criteria, they figure prominently in the points’ breakdown of schools that have announced admissions so far.
However, the number of points allotted to the criteria has come down, Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.com, said. “Last year, schools were awarding anywhere between 25 and 35 points for each of these criteria.”>
Schools such as St Mary’s and Mount Carmel are not giving any points to the girl child this year. Another school, however, will award eight points to the first-born girl child and 10 to the first-born boy. A particular school is offering five points for the adopted girl child, and two for the adopted boy.
Some schools such as Bal Bharti, Tagore International and Mount Carmel have done away with the points system, and are opting for a draw of lots instead.…
, like Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, and The Indian School, plan to start on December 22 itself; others, like Bal Bharti Public School (Ganga Ram Hospital Marg) will have to first decide criteria and have them cleared by the managing committee of the schools. "We'll need some time so, in all probability, we'll start from January 1," says principal L V Sehgal. The Catholic minority schools that had been exempted last year itself, are likely to start on January 1, too. "It's not an us-vs-them situation," argues Ameeta Mulla Wattal, chairperson, NPSC and principal, Springdales School (Pusa Road), "The HC verdict simply restores balance to the system." "It's essential that the parents are not under stress," says Madhulika Sen, principal, Tagore International, and a member of Action Committee's special committee on admission criteria, "We are meeting tomorrow and we'll draw up broad guidelines that'll be suggested to the schools." While all such "suggestions" and "guidelines" are just that and not binding in any way, both Sehgal and The Indian School principal, Tania Joshi state that their criteria will be based on the NPSC's "suggested" guidelines. "It's because we understand our responsibility," says Sehgal.

NEW DELHI: Despite all promises of transparency and self-regulation, parents aren't pleased with the high court order. They have serious doubts about the private school bodies' capacity to self-regulate, are unhappy about the possibility of differing schedules and the reintroduction of management quota, of course. As one parent puts it on an online forum, "Ye jhatka Delhi Government ko nahi saare parents ko laga hai. (This hasn't jolted just Delhi Government but all the parents)." "They are in education but they're also in the business of education," quips Gaurav Bhalla who'll be seeking a seat for his daughter in east Delhi. Most parents seem to agree that the situation merited at least some common guidelines and standards however broad. "There is need for regulation," argues Bhalla. "If there had been transparency, the government wouldn't have felt the need to intervene in the first place." He believes there should be a common platform—ideally regulated by the government—where feedback from all stakeholders can be gathered. He isn't the only one to doubt the private schools' self-regulation policy. "I don't think they can and it'll be the same nightmare all over again," says a parent who'll apply this year. School authorities have maintained from the start that they and parents are on the same side of the nursery battle; parents, simply, don't agree. Echoing the sentiment of many, a parent writes on an online forum, "Last year's guidelines were not bad. Except for transfer and points should [have been] there for alumni and first child. Same calendar for all and same documents... [is a] must." Another parent feels that the government should've been allowed to at least "put caps" on schools' criteria. For most parents, the government's attempts to regulate—however clumsy—was a step in the right direction and the schools' stand has seemed adversarial from the start. At worst, parents feel they've lost. "What else I can say here. Pathetic. The ordeal continues for ...parents," writes one on admissionsnursery.com. At best they are confused. Sumit Vohra, of admissionsnursery.com, further points out that the reappearance of management quota effectively reduces the number of general category seats to roughly half of the total at least in NPSC schools (25% for EWS, 20% management and 5% staff ward) and there are also seats for children with special needs to consider.
Hindustan Times 11 Dec (Delhi) -Schools will have to seek DoE nod before publishing admission norms Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com. said -Parents are panic stricken as they are not sure of getting a fair chance. Fifty percent seats are reserved (25% for EWS, 20% management quota and 5% staff quota) as per the guidelines that 100 school have come out with. Added to this is the 3% reservation for children with special needs in some schools,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com. Of the remaining seats, parents fear, a large chunk will be taken by sibling or alumni cases as most schools plan on keeping a high quantum of points for both criteria. “As far as the school’s autonomy is concerned, it is very confusing as parents want a common admission calendar. Parents have also said that a large chunk of points should be for the neighbourhood criteria and that there should be a helpline for complaining against erring schools,” Vohra added. The Delhi High Court division bench’s decision to let unaided private schools in the city schools decide their own admission criteria may be a big win for schools but it does not mean that the Directorate of Education (DoE) has no control over them. According to the guidelines issued in 2007 — one that the court has asked the schools to follow— the criteria will be finalised only with the prior approval of the DoE. Its decision will have to be communicated to the school within four weeks. The management quota cannot be denied as the 2007 order explicitly allows for it. “It is not as if schools will be able to set whatever criteria they want. We plan to be stringent in checking and will take action against any school setting arbitrary criteria,” said an official of the education department. Wednesday’s decision, however, has caused panic among the parents.
INDIAN EXPRESS - Schools happy, parents worried
Private schools on Wednesday welcomed the Delhi High Court order refusing to grant interim stay on its single-judge verdict quashing the point system for nursery admissions brought in by the Lt-Governor.
“It is a balanced judgment and all stakeholders should now get together for the children of Delhi. At the same time, it is imperative that the government rethinks its policy on nursery because its 2,000 schools cannot cater to all the children of the capital,” said Ameeta Mulla Wattal, principal of Springdales School, Pusa Road, and chairperson of the National Progressive Schools Conference (NPSC).
Last week, NPSC issued broad guidelines to 80-odd schools under its ambit along with an admission schedule. The action committee for unaided private schools, the umbrella body for Delhi’s schools, will also hold a meeting to come out with admission guidelines by Thursday.
But with NPSC coming out with its own schedule, parents are confused over who will decide the schedule this year, with the Directorate of Education (DoE) deciding to adopt a ‘wait and watch’ approach for now. “We are yet to take a decision. We are still studying the court order and may come out with an action plan in a day or two. If we have to make a schedule, we will do so,” Padmini Singla, the DoE director, said.
“It is going to be a confusing year for parents with schools formulating different criteria. Most parents have also expressed disappointment over more than 50 per cent seats being reserved this year for different categories. Parents want a common admission policy and schedule, but it seems that is not going to happen,” Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery.com said. (ENS)
