Hurry! Today is the last day to apply for nursery
TIMES NEWS NETWORK
New Delhi: Friday is the last day to apply for your child’s nursery admission. Though most schools have already started interactions with parents, others like DPS RK Puram and DPS Vasant Kunj, Vasant Valley and Bloom Public School in Vasant Kunj, Mother’s International at Aurobindo Marg, Salwan Montessori in Rajinder Nagar and VVDAV School in Vikaspuri will make the application forms available for one last day.
The directorate of education had given schools till January 15 to conduct application procedures. Most of these schools will come out with their first list of candidates on February 1. Many parents feel it’s wise to apply to as many schools as possible to minimise the risk of not getting their children a seat. Since most of the schools remaining have online application facilities, parents can cover them all even on the last day. Said Kanchan Sharma, mother of a three-yearold girl, ‘‘I have applied to four schools. Thankfully, this year we did not have to run around much. The whole application procedure was a bit relaxed because of the onemonth period given by the government.’’
As parents buy and submit forms on the last day, it is important that they have all documents in one place. Different schools are asking for different sets of documents to be attached with application forms — both original and photocopies. ‘‘Many schools want two proofs of residence and a few also insist on proof that the family has been living in their current residence for at least a year. It’s better for parents to carry a voter ID card or a passport as residence proof as some schools don’t accept electricity or telephone bills,’’ advised Sumit Vohra, founder of the online forum www.admissionsnursery.com for parents.
He added, ‘‘Try for schools which accept online applications as there is no need to submit documents immediately. Different family members should go to different schools to apply to more schools in less time.’’

ools, management quota seats are not given based on "donation". We had applied to about 25 schools in South Delhi, including Bluebells, but we got rejected in all schools except Cambridge NFC. In some schools, we were rejected directly and in a lot of schools, we got rejected in the lottery. After we got rejected in all our top preference schools, we did the following: 1. We made a list of 6 schools that are better than Cambridge and were higher on our priority list - DPS Mathura Road, SPV, DPS EoK, RSJMS, Tagore EoK, and Bluebells. We then focussed all our efforts on only these 6 schools. 2. We wrote an email to these 6 schools. In addition to the email ids on the school website, we researched on google, LinkedIn, etc. to find the Principal's email id. In the email, we wrote about our academic and professional highlights and accomplishments. We did not write about our income or wealth. We specifically asked the school to reconsider the application. We ran the content of the email through MS Word Spell-check and Grammarly to ensure that it is completely error-free. 3. We formatted the content of the email into a letter and sent the letter to the 6 schools by Speed Post. We also dropped the letter at the schools. SPV did not take our letter. 4. We got calls from Bluebells and Tagore EoK for an interaction a few days later. In both places, they had the letter in front of them during the interaction. In Bluebells, it was not required to take our daughter. They asked about our profiles and how we spend time with our daughter. They also did document verification. In Tagore EoK, we were required to take our daughter and they spoke mainly with our daughter. We also got call from Summerfield for interaction - without trying. We did not go there. 5. Bluebells gave us the admission offer on the day of the interaction itself. Tagore EoK said that they will let us know. Bluebells was higher on our priority list. So, we took admission there. I thought other parents might find our experience useful. This forum has been of great help during this entire journey. Thanks, Mr. Vohra and Sakshi. And, thanks to all the parents for posting the DOL results of various schools. Regards, Aryama Dutta Saikia…
made it mandatory to have 30% reservation for SC/ST. Mr Sumit Vohra, you must raise this point as well, as I feel there is discrimination in Nursery representations for SC/ST and Dalits and backward classes and minorities. All schools - DPS, Modern, Sanskriti, Amity, Bluebells, Achlon, KR Mangalam, Mother Intl, etc, etc should implement this great equaliser. And they should study for free and not thousands.
My take:
1. Neighbourhood: It is the government's responsibility to have good schools in all suburbs. All over the world preference is given to children living in the neighbourhood of say 1 to 5 kms. In foreign countries I have seen my friends buy/rent houses in the vicinity of the posh /best schools paying triple the rent/price so that their child is given automatic admission. I really wonder how many parents would be willing to relocate to colonies near their preffered schools???
Nursery child is only 3 years old and its not fair to subject such a small baby to travel huge distances. We like a really good school in Noida but are simply not ready to subject our baby to 1 hour of commute each way from Moti bagh. What happen if the school bus breaks down in high summer or monsoons/traffic jams? Or a medical emergency?
2. Sibling: It is but natural and correct in every aspect to have all siblings study in the same school. Ease of transportation, ease of attending PTA's, ease of older sibling looking after the younger one, same books, uniforms, holidays together. All schools say that they have X number of seats for general category (non sibling etc). I have an elder daughter in a school and my son is not able to get into that school because of the point system. Had the point system been there 4 years ago my daughter would have got all the points and my son too would have made it.
Girl child: With the crazy ratio of boys and girls in the North India, the government is making an effort to give importance to a girl child. My son will not get points but Life is all about what it serves you and what you make out of it. Abdul Kalam became India's best scientist inspite of being from a poor background and he made his way to the top...
Professional qualification: Well we are average parents - not PG but both me and my wife have got double bachelors. The schools where we have applied do not give points for qualifications but then where does the argument stop???? Some schools have a strict business parent selection criterea for donation purposes. Sanskriti and DPS favour government employees and in Saskriti there is discrimination between various government departments...
Alumni: All over the world again preference is given to alumni's children. Its a tradition. If a parent has spent 12 years of life in a school they will always look upon their alma mater for their children.I am from out of Delhi and my wife is from a very good convent in south delhi. Now where does my son get the points to go to a convent? I was in favour of putting my elder daughter in my wife's school (which is only 15 minutes away) but my wife was hell bent that our daughter is not subjected to a convent... So???
Intercaste marriage: we could have had 5 points for this as I am a Himachali Khatri and my wife a Jain. But this year there are no points for it?
Synopsis: I would suggest that we all should take a deep breath and continue with the points as it is FOR THIS INTAKE and whatever suggestions are to be given should be done now for next year and clear, thoughtful guidlines be drafted by July 2010 to be implemented for 2011. Last minute changes are no good and let me tell you - all these changes would benefit the schools and their vested interest. I read in the paper that Modern has been asked to disclose its points and selection criterea. Mr Vohra, have they done it? Once the admissions are over no one will even remember it nor bother about it. No body has filed a RTI for getting the answers....
Whatever rules you make there will always be a percentage of people who will find it unfair and the government has to take a stand....

of the educated parents were greatly counting upon heritage results now you can see that we are all in lottery ---- fighting for 40 seats 935 of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! does it make sense!!!! why has not dps rohini not changed their criteria, then all of us would have again been in lottery..
What is this criteria nonsense- alumni, sibling, GIRL CHILD- are we in some village where we try to kill the girl foetus, come on I am personally against celebrating woman's day on march 1, like observing aids day-awakard --- we are not in minority then why this dicrimination...... anyway my point is if the change has been followed by all schools then it is fair, but it is followed by only a few and so nobody gains in this, infact all of us have lost heavily.

Whoever was responsible for the last minute change has surely shattered the dreams of lots of parents. The strange part is most of the schools are not following the changed criteria. In north delhi after the results of apeejay, dps and bbps most of the parents were eagerly waiting for heritage rohini results as all of us knew our points from day one and we were quite sure about our selection, now this stupid criteria has changed and put all of us into the lottery system around 900 applicants for 40 seats. GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People who changed criteria must be very happy because they are not the sufferers, they are not in our shoes to go through this trauma. Our education system traumatises us from the very beginning.

experience wid the new parents n hope it helps dem.
i stay in south delhi, so i had a gud range of schools to choose from.i didnt have alumni n sibling points.i had applied in 31 schools n by god's grace , my daughter got thrgh 23 schools. most of the schools called us in management quotas but none had asked for money. the big shots DPS grp n schools from vasant kunj didnt call.rest all of dem did.we had a few advantages by ourself-we both are doctors n my 1st born is a gal, so we got few points for dat.
wud just like to advise the parents dat plz fill the forms properly.the schools read what u rite, specially what u can do for dem n schools prefer educated parents for management quotas.certain schools forms need to be fiiled v properly like sardar patel's, appeejay's where lot of points are given for parents contribution to society n stuffs.
schools are not as bad as they r projected.most schools refund almost whole of the money.so parents gear up.get all ur documents ready.this site has all details of the documents required.make fotocopies of as many schools as u want to apply.keep ur address documents ready.schools prefer voter's i card, aadhar card.just c dat dese documents r atleast 1 yr old or the schools will send u back. most schools will offer online collection of forms.get started from day 1, fill the forms n start submissions from day2. schools start early so form deposition can be done soon. i finished depositing forms in 5 days.dont wait for last days.online submissions can b done later also.
schools will start calling u soon for document verifications n last yr admissions started by jan end. so keep ur pockets ready n get geared up for the admissions of ur wards.all the best n thanks mr. vohra n grp once again.

oups are complaining about the distance criteria norms after the abolition of the management quota. Parents eyeing to get their wards admitted to the schools are sulking on the verity of lack of good schools in the six-kilometre radius of their locality. "I want my child to get admitted in DPS or Vasant Valley but after the abolition of the management quota, there are lesser chances to get admission in a good school," said a resident of South Delhi who did not want to be identified. On the other hand, a DoE official maintained, "Parents should not go after brands and try their ward to get admitted in any of the schools nearby which is falling under six kilometres of radius." Further, parents claim that the schools nearby are huddled with no first-rate environment for their kids. "A better environment is also required as in big schools teachers bestow attention to our wards and there is always a room for the quality environment for their schooling," said Sapna, a Chartered Accountant from south Delhi. Meanwhile, parents also argued on the fact that distance criterion should be altered and should be extended up to 10 kms. "I want my child to get admission at Sanskriti school but it is not falling under the radius of the area we are putting up. We are hoping it would be extended up to 10 kms. before 15 January," said a parent. Mr Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery.com says that parents of Delhi have a propensity to believe some schools which have a brand name are good. "Parents are fond of sending their kids to schools where the rich and influential send theirs. They want the right crowd for their tutoring and schooling, I prefer to call them the creamy layer people."

ou all are doing really a great job. I appreciate the initiative taken by Mr. Vohra for starting such platform, which I am sure helping all parents like us who are seeking better future for their child.
Like each parent do, we also tried for best for our child. My child is 2.5 Yrs now & was not qualified for most of the schools in Noida because of age (March 2012 born) & I feel he is too small for interactions at formal schools. We opted for following schools –
Amity – Not Selected
Khaitan – Waitlisted (Not Sure What’s the probability of getting admission there?)
Cambridge – Result Awaited on 30th Sep
The Millennium - Selected
Nevertheless, We have 2 choices now, Either we drop this year & get our son admitted next year for formal school OR we admit him in new age school (Though our financial condition is not too good)
I would like opinions from Parents here, We have following options in Noida –
Sapphire International
Alliance Word
JSS Public School
Manav Rachna International School
Cambridge (If son got selected)
Billabong
Presidium (My son is going to Mother’s pride & they are pushing us to get admission in Presiudum, I am not too keen, after seeing lot of –ve feedback abt this school)
Any other good school in Noida, Please suggest.
Express Way Options
DPS Expressway
Shriram Millenium
Jaypee School
Look forward to have your opinion/views/suggestions to take decision for our son.
Thanks

Parents who’s looking for better & secure future for their son…
many hours drawing lists of schools where their children stood the best chance of getting a seat.
But the state education minister Arvinder Singh Lovelys decision to change the parameters of the points system has put parents as well as school administrations in a spot.
The fact that a majority of the Capitals schools have already come out with lists of the selected candidates is also forcing alarmed parents to push the panic button.
The schools who have not declared their admission list as yet have been left with no option but to make scurried changes as they scramble to accommodate the education ministers latest edict.
The new directive primarily does away with the “ profession and educational which were earlier worth 25- 40 points in most schools.
To adjust this, some schools have increased the points allotted to “ neighbourhood” from 10 to 40.
New parameters such as “ single parent” points have also been set aside for differently- abled candidates and transfer cases.
Harrowed parents, whose children are yet to secure admission, have been left aghast by the sudden change in weightage.
“ We had shortlisted those schools to apply where our child had a good chance of securing admission on the basis of the given criteria. But under the new parameters, we realise that we should have applied to different schools,” Sheena Rai, whose daughter was to start pre- school from this academic session, said.
“ What is the need to change the selection process is almost over? This is sheer harassment for the schools and the parents,” said another disgruntled parent.
The last- minute change has also put schools in a fix. The Model Town- based Srijan Public School has postponed its admission list indefinitely.
On the other hand, the Banyan Tree School, Lodhi Road, displayed the list of the selected candidates two days before the scheduled date of February 1.
.
Rekha Krishnan, principal, Vasant Valley, said: “ We would not be making any changes in the parameters of the point system because we had never allotted any point to the education of parents or their profession. Our list would come out on February 1 as scheduled.” Despite repeated attempts to contact him, Lovely remained unavailable for comment.
Schools such as Vasant Valley, Springdales, Pusa Road, DPS R. K. Puram, DPS Rohini, Mothers International and Tagore International are expected to come out with their final admission lists in the first week of February.
