Old system was much better as at least then everyone had a choice and a good probability of getting a reasonable school nearby. IST and 8KM rule was a blunder as it only increased number of applicants in each school manifold, which resulted in panic like situation. If only the management quota was lowered to say 10% that would have been a win-win situation. Management quota gave schools the opportunity to earn those extra bucks in the form of donation and so people who could afford it would pay up. That way rest of the general category was shielded from steep fee hikes. Now schools have passed the entire burden to general category to cover for EWS and No Donation seats.

Now we realise that old point system was better, as 70 points is as good as zero. By old system at least I was sure that I will get in nearby school which is not the case now. So I think that we should all look in broader prospects, rather than going for PILs repeatedly

Comment by Ankush Grover on April 14, 2014 at 3:13pm: @Maneet, Schools need fees of April that is why session was going to start on 15th April and not even on 16th April because in that parents would have said why to pay full month fees when half the month is already gone. DOE must be under pressure from school to start the session asap at that time..

Comment by Maneet Tikku on April 14, 2014 at 2:53pm: The Mess has been created by High Court and DOE . They should have decided on PIL by IST parents and then removed the stay. What they did was partial removal of stay and Duffer DOE went one step further by allowing schools to start classes from 15th April. Why simply why a session can start without entire admission process over. Even if Siblings/ Alumnis and few 70 pointers have got admissions but still majority of 70 Pointers are waiting for results to come and meanwhile DOE allows session to start, why we have to suffer everywhere . Neither we are getting ample seats for admission of our Kids and on top of it our Kids have to wait to go to school and while others go . This is total inequality.

Comment by Rahul uppal on April 14, 2014 at 2:13pm: Kuch log jo PIL kar rahe hain woh yeh soch rahe hain ki agar unke liya seats bar jayengi to unka lucky draw main select honay ke chances barh jayenge, yeh apko galat fahmi hai, jista hona hota hai uska lakh applications main bhi nikal jata hai aur jiska nahi hona hota uska panh application mein bhi nahi nikalta, yeh sabh child ki destiny hai aap issmein kuch nahi kar sakte, Mera pas is bat he pakka saboot hain, One of my known lived close to a very good school and he desperately wanted a seat in that school so what he did was he filled 5 forms in that school for his boy, as he had a long name with middle name so he shuffeled his first, middle and last names and was managed to fill 5 forms in that school and then came the draw date for 70 pointers their were 2800 applicants and 29 seats to be filled and guess what he did not get any seat in the draw.
I will tell you one more incident one of my friend filled the form is Delhi's 2nd best and largest school he never expected any luck here as in this school their were whooping 4500 applicants for 70 pointers draw and only 16 seats and guess what this childs name was selected out of 4500 applicants, so it is all luck and destiny and its all in the hands of your khuda so believe in him and believe in your child, he will do the best for your child.
