@ Sakshi, I completely disagree removing sibling. There should definately be points or some seats reserved in all schools for siblings. Infact they should reduce mgmt seats, which some schools have taken upto 20 perc instead of 15 perc last year!! I'm not speaking for personal benefit, as I'm applying for my 1st born boy, but I can understand the nightmare it wouldve been for my working parents had me and my brother been in different schools! Ask any parent applying for sibling.. This is a one sided argument, as almost no one applying for second child is saying anything! Alumni I agree makes sense, more than discrimination, the fact is that schools which were good 15 yrs ago may not be so, or people move, so they don't apply to same schools for their kids.. Do u have 2 kids Sakshi- only parents with 2 kids should have a say on this, no one else has a right.

As a parent, the biggest concern one will have is that we shortlist schools based on the current point system. Now if the point system is going to be different/or not going to be there at all, then all parents should have the option to reapply to all the schools of their preference which they might have not applied earlier

@Sakshi: Thanks. It seems that the decision on the PIL is based on a couple of very important things

1) Is RTE applicable only to 6-14 year children

2) Is RTE applicable only to EWS children

In my view, any judgement will be within the boundaries of RTE

@Sandeep:

just an example of current points system: first child gets points in quite few school either 5 or 10 but loses to most children with siblings as most schools have higher points for siblings than first child. other way : sibling gets points in only one school where elder child is studying and loses to sibling cases in other schools and also to first child in most schools. why should a child get blame for being born first or 2nd? what did the child do wrong in that?

Amar, " Court has asked some clarifications on "Definition of Child" as Union of india has argued that child definition starts from 6 yrs . but in their written submission Court has asked for some clarification  after submitting on last tuesday. But Union of india still did not give the clarification to court " FOR DEFINITION OF CHILD" so Judge was very angry and told the Union of india that all the admissions are going on and will wait till tomorrow.

sorry for the repeat question: Can Mudit/Sakshi tell us about the points on which high court has asked clarification from Union of India. What are contentious issues for which this hearing happened

@ vivek:

The agenda is to get equal opportunity of participating in draws for admission. We all know not everyone can get admission in school of thier choice.

@Mudit..what is that clarification that has been sought by the high court. Any details about that

Comment by Mudit Mathur on February 12, 2013 at 11:38am

HC had asked for a clarification from the HRD Ministry of UOI .

To this HRD ministry said it is taking the Law Min's opinion.

The Bench has asked them to come up with a response by tomorrow failing which court will on its own decide how this act will it be interpreted in terms of RTE
