@Ekta batra... Honestly, I have all the time in the world to reapply... And I ll be more than happy with the neighbourhood only point system as I have 10 schools in less that 2 km radius from my house, and am not applying for a sibling either.. My remarks are not personally driven... Is a reality check for parents who are pinning all their hopes on this, and the very socialist discussions of equal opportunity... In this country,NOTHING IS EQUAL... Everyone needs to fight.. Better to accept reality, and work towards making things happen in more relevant ways...

So the point system PIL is just a sham.. Another NGO is getting ready with an opposite argument and PIL to get stay on scrapping point system, for sake of parents who are already through!! nothing is going to happen! Who benefits from anything is a big question mark... Govt gives land to schools of all categories to put in place the infrastructure to society.. Not to take over what they just want to do... We pay EDUCATIONAL CESS tax in addition to income tax... That's supposed to be used by central govt for education in India.. In 2010 this figure of JUST Edu CESS was over 10,000 crores... Where is the accountability for that? These are MORE valid questions... And PILs to follow.. If one really wants to make a difference.. Playing ping pong with policies on pvt unaided schools is just a mask, to involve parents and keep them busy.. So no one thinks of the real questions....

@Natashs, could not agree more with you. they should have come before dec 2012 or at most january 2013. they are adding delay where every day counts.

As for admission, its not just govt schools, all schools have equal responsibility and should give equal status to all children. schools cannot discriminate on basis of anything. quite few parents go for branded or reputed schools but they forget that unless good children and good teachers come to your neighborhood school, the neighborhood school can't improve and schools are not doing anything to help this (look at alumni and other points used by school).

All the people I know who actually want to apply through EWS.. Can't do so, due to lack of address proofs... I have personally helped so many people financially to pay bribes for EWS documentation.... A lot of them are happy in kendriya vidyalayas as their kids are not discriminated against.. We need to get real.. We don't live in a communist or socialist society.. We are a capitalist country, and we need to deal with it ! As in any such society, the government needs to get its act correct... People like us pay taxes to the govt, so people in the EWS get what they should have a right to... Now in addition we have to give up our children's right to education too!!! It's not fair! We are the contributors to GDP, and we don't get seats in schools for our children!

@Maharam Tanwar: You are correct but this delayed justice is likely to create panic, sooner the better. Bcz for parents who have the last date to deposit fee by  today or tomorrow will have to deposit  the same, they cannot take risk of loosing the seat. And refunding the amount from school  and again  starting the process from start will be very challenging. But those parents who could'nt secure a seat will definitely want the entire process from scratch.

And worst of all Why the 11th hour? The point system applicable this year was applicable last yr too.... Why did NGOs wake up in Dec 2012? If they really cared, this PIL should be done months in advance... What were they doing from March till dec 2012?

I think for equal education, these NGOs should push for improvement of government schools... Where right to primary education should be implemented... They can easily take the help of good established schools for this, who are in any case doing a lot for society... Right to education is the governments responsibility, not the pvt schools! Everyone seems to overlook this point! Just because I hire a nanny for my child and pay her well, doesn't mean it's the nanny responsibility to teach my child values... The pvt schools can be a support system for the EWS kids, taking them in on merit from middle school... The NGOs should be fighting for that! First NGOs fought to get point system in, now fighting to get it scrapped... Quite amusing really!
