Refund / adjustment of the fees for the month of April 2014 for no classes for LKG/pre school

According to me, an important issue is also that when no classes are held for LKG or pre school classes, in the month of April 2014, then is it not appropriate for the authorities concern and / or Supreme Court to also issue necessary instructions regarding refund/adjustment of the hefty fees taken by the schools for the month of April 2014. I think it needs attention.

My dear friends..

I am of the simple view that if the students have not attended the classes due to various technical reasons, in which they have no role, then Govt. / Court should ensure that no fee is charged for the same reason for the month of April 2014.  They are duty bound to redress this issue..

Maharam Ji: Courts / Govt. directed the schools by putting a stay on the admission process... YET, these institutions continued by calling parents and making them pay the monies (Admission fees et al). Hence, I don't think it is NOT a business and only service is being provided. If this was service, then all the schools would have completely abide by putting admission process on complete HOLD and would not have called in the parents and asked them to make payment of fees.

Hence for me, they are running a Business and should be ok to refund the fees for the period where services have not been provided.

It is as simple as NO SERVICE = NO MONEY.

Tanwar ji..you mean to say poor parents face all the losses. Public school owner are best business man in this country compare to any other sector. One school owner runs several business under single roof e.g. transport/garment/meals/canteen/stationary/activity/sports/tution fees on which they never also give discount. The same book you can get half of MRP outside but they charged on MRP That too very hiked MRP. A school owner eaisly make three schools in 5 to 10 year time from one school. I agree with your point that it is not school mistake but I disagree that it is not business. My logic is it is not parents mistake either then main accuse is delhi govt. When this govt can digest corore of ruppes scam then its a small fee adustment. We also know that govt never pay they can compale others to pay so they should ask schools to adust the fees and govt has right to do so otherwise if govt will ask to schools owner to pay the actual rate of school land and remove other benefits then school owner smiley agree for everything because they wont like to close money making factory like public school. So parents should come in last for any payment without any service....

Every business has a factor associated with it called as Loss. In this case, the respective institutions should bear the loss. Parents are here for service, not business. In case of NO service, the amount should not be charged at all.

Well said @ Prashant-ji

Mr. Maharam Tanwar ji

I want to clarify that nursery teachers do not alone paid salary for teaching to nursery students, some schools (like school of mine son also) have charged fees quarterly which includes, meals charges, health and hygience charges, etc. Even if session was started in April, how can they charge for meals for the month of June

also, if the child goes to school for 15 days in May, they charge full fee towards meals. the schools charge admission charge, annual charges, etc. Therefore, paying salary to teachers is just not connected with fees of one quarter.

But we parents are right if we are asking for refund or adjustment in next quarter and not only refund of april fee

I can understand nursery teachers need to be paid salary so i guess there is slim chances for fees refund/adjustment. What about transport fees?...Atleast transport fees should be adjusted as our children had not availed the transport at all....

Maharam Ji: Agreed, schools could have started the sessions in case the process were not stayed, but in my view, Any business has a factor associated with it called as Loss...

In this case as well, the respective institutions should bear the loss and not the parents who have paid the amount for a service. In case of NO service, the amount should not be charged at all and either a refund or adjustment of the whole fee for the month / quarter be made.

Yes, because many parents have paid the fees for the first quarter along with transport charges. The SC should look into this matter also.
