Nursery admission system discriminatory: Parents
With the process for nursery admissions coming to an end, some children could not make it to the selected list of any of the schools, even after applying to 20 different places.
While some parents were elated as their children made it to the list of various schools, some were left dejected as their wards’ names did not appear even in the second lists at schools.
Point system
The parents alleged that the point system was “discriminatory” and did not work in their favour.
Shahid Salam, a resident of Okhla, had applied to various schools like Cambridge, Kalka Public School, Tagore International, Blu Bells, Hamdard, DAV School, etc but could not secure a seat for his kid, Sadiq — the second-born.
“We only got points in neighbourhood criteria and there were only three schools within one to two km. Rest of the points were reserved for either girl child, alumni, first-born or siblings. Parents like us have a disadvantage,” he said.
Similarly, Monika Gupta, a resident of Jangpura, had applied to 20 schools for her child.
Pinning hopes
She was pinning her hopes on the second list, but said the schools did not issue a fresh list and cleared names of children in the first waiting list.
Though she had the benefit of ‘first-born’ points but still could not get a seat for her child.
“The whole process is so tedious and it is painful when in the end you are left with nothing,” she said. Since the process will end on March 31, Monika is keeping her fingers crossed.
“I am praying that he (son) gets a call from at least one school before that. Otherwise, we only have the option of sending him to a small school nearby and then again try next year for KG,” she said.
Education activist Sumit Vohra, who is also the founder of admissionsnursery.com, an online portal for the parent community, said, “We have many parents who are going to Noida and Gurgaon as they could not get admission anywhere near their residences. Many three-year-olds will be forced to commute for two hours for their school. The point system mostly favoured sibling and alumni”.

Check all selected wards. Invariably it's just sibling alumni points which outweigh location points. I live within 3 km of DPS EoK. But with 35 points it means nothing
Only siblings and alumni kids living close to the school got in. WHY HAVE THIS FARCE EVERY YEAR
SIMPLY CHOOSE BETWEEN SI KINGS AND ALUMNI CHILDREN
WILL SAVE PRECIOUS TIME OF THE REST.

The same is with DPS Mathura Road (whole list is full of siblings & alumnis).
DPS seems to be a family school.

I am also having same concern applied 22 school in south delhi (Saket/Vasant Kunj) but my daughter was not selected any of them, In here did't understand if school took admission only sibling & alumni then why took the form of all because maximum school list full sibling and Alumni only.

We are resident of mehrouli and also facing the same problem . We had applied for almost 20 schools but my daughter didn't selected anywhere . We had also applied in DG catagory but my daughter didn't get any seat anywhere though all schools were within 6 km.

I agree the point system is sbsolutely ridiculous . Even after getting full points in neibourhood and may be first child in some schools , your name will not qualify for draw even . What a rubbish system !!! . Where these children will go now ? I think court is the only place to get some relief or pay a hefty amount to get into a good school which may be between 8 to 14 lacs .

Sakshi i had applied in noida schools and again checked in those schools few days back but they too have no seats avail , few schools just asked to submit application and check.

Applied in 50 Schools,My son name is not there except GD Goenka Sector 9.
Srijan school Model town is focussing on Girl child as I got 50 points the reason I am not able to make it is they did draw on 70 and 70 are for those who are having gal child.
Srijan school should change there status from coed to girls school.
Lets talks about presidium general public dont even think that they will get there name in presidium as all there seats are full from mothers pride students from whom they took 50000 at the time of admission.
Mata Jai Kaur-:Mata jai kaur again a school where preference is for Girl child or Sikh minority.
Montfort forget about it if you are not alumni or have sibling or is not in a range of 1km,The only problem with montfort is back door entry is there but school management is not ready to accept the fact.
A person who was expecting there child name this year note please make sure you save good amount this year to get back door entries.
