Nursery admission system discriminatory: Parents
With the process for nursery admissions coming to an end, some children could not make it to the selected list of any of the schools, even after applying to 20 different places.
While some parents were elated as their children made it to the list of various schools, some were left dejected as their wards’ names did not appear even in the second lists at schools.
Point system
The parents alleged that the point system was “discriminatory” and did not work in their favour.
Shahid Salam, a resident of Okhla, had applied to various schools like Cambridge, Kalka Public School, Tagore International, Blu Bells, Hamdard, DAV School, etc but could not secure a seat for his kid, Sadiq — the second-born.
“We only got points in neighbourhood criteria and there were only three schools within one to two km. Rest of the points were reserved for either girl child, alumni, first-born or siblings. Parents like us have a disadvantage,” he said.
Similarly, Monika Gupta, a resident of Jangpura, had applied to 20 schools for her child.
Pinning hopes
She was pinning her hopes on the second list, but said the schools did not issue a fresh list and cleared names of children in the first waiting list.
Though she had the benefit of ‘first-born’ points but still could not get a seat for her child.
“The whole process is so tedious and it is painful when in the end you are left with nothing,” she said. Since the process will end on March 31, Monika is keeping her fingers crossed.
“I am praying that he (son) gets a call from at least one school before that. Otherwise, we only have the option of sending him to a small school nearby and then again try next year for KG,” she said.
Education activist Sumit Vohra, who is also the founder of admissionsnursery.com, an online portal for the parent community, said, “We have many parents who are going to Noida and Gurgaon as they could not get admission anywhere near their residences. Many three-year-olds will be forced to commute for two hours for their school. The point system mostly favoured sibling and alumni”.

Arun,
Agreed to you but atleast 1 % scope what is the other way to get into such schools.
Spending 11 Lac for montfort doesnt make sense and I believe its only us who are not fighting against the same.
Every year montfort comes out with 152 seats out of which total no of christians apply is about 10-20 rest seats are either going to alumni or to sibling cases and worst part is 30 points upto 1 km only.
Its kinda inequality...30 Management seats which they sell for 9 to 12 lacs..
its not only about this particlar school all schools have a rate chart which goes like this
VGS Rohini-:3-4lacs
Bal Bharti Pitampura-:4-6 Lacs
Srijan School -:3-4 lacs
Modern School-:15-21 lacs
Springdales-:8-13 Lacs
Montfort School-:8-12 Lacs
GD Goenka Model town 1.5 to 4 lacs
Market is so open
Arun,
Exposing these so called agents is one solution,I am literally so upset with the system and trust me this middle class only suffers.
Would love to share one of my personal experience I attended GD Goenkas Model town Lucky Draw and trust me the numbers were written on one paper they didnt show the slips to parent..
I believe kejriwal govt made situation more worst,Mgmt quota stayed and again these so called agents got lucky....
and the best part was kejriwal ji always wake up lil late as this time also he was out of his sleep in the middle of admission process.
i lost my sleep worrying for my son admission the only thing i learnt from the admission process is dont expect your child name in the list.
Wish could do anything about it I have proof that a parent with 10 points make it in montfort by paying 10 lacs and look we sitting with 25 points.
I dont understand why govt is investing so much in opening govt schools and if they are investing our money in that then why 25% needs to go to EWS.
Sick system,Money Money Money....Education abroad is free...Feel pity for us specially middle class...God bless us and our lil stars
No Big Deal!
My friend applied to 30 schools, he got no listing anywhere. Finally, he as to get his ticked booked in one school.
I had applied to 13 schools, Got in waiting list in 1 school.
Some schools, where Girl Child had extra points, they completed turned into Girls Campus. No boy got shortlisted even.
Soon, Govt has to launch, Beta padao, desh bacho abhiyan!
Agree to you Mr Amit,Govt is giving benefits to girl child only and its not wrong but buys and girls are equal govt themselves is creating a situation of inequality.
