Yes Suhail, I guess we have committed a crime of falling in General category. So very discouraging!

well said Suhail

How unjustified is this for the general quota people specifically; first we anyways get lesser seats coz of EWS and other quotas and then we also pay for them. When Govt knows the number of students is increasing each year, can't they fix their statistics and get more good schools for everyone. Somebody teach them logics please!!

It is totally unfair to the parents.  What is the fault of parents that they should bear the expenses of EWS students.  It is a right step from the Govt. to give free and quality education to the poor but it not means that all the expenses should be bear by the general category.  The fee should not be hiked in any way.  Parents are already facing the problem of fee hike since many years.  Only parents know how they are managing funds for the studies of their ward.  On behalf of all the parents, I request the Govt./MHRD not to hike the fee and find other solution to accommodate EWS quota.

I don know y these schools raise the fee every year. last year too we faced the same problem...

Yes shaena  they just want to exploit parents !!

Again fee hike...already hav to pay so much as fees...if govt. create EWS category than its their duty to borne the expenses of those kids..it's not justified to burden us, as already many parents in general category r paying more than they cud afford for the education of their child. Is it our fault that we fall on general category or we dream of good education for our kid and go for good schools with already inflated fees?

Here iam risking outrageous lashing from fellow members but anyways got to put my point forward.25% reservation for EWS means that three general cat. parents will bear the education cost for 1 underprivilaged child.......Is it really so very tough on parents most of whom earn in lakhs monthly. I am myself a GEN cat. mother and have absolutely no qualms in bearing 1/3 the cost of a poor child's education. And I am throughly ashamed of my class (GEN category) who spents thousands of rupees per month eating and shopping and outing and are so miserably pained at the idea of spending a few extra bucks to efford a decent education (that they desperately want for thier own kids) for a poor kid. Is this the humanity and brotherhood we Indian's are so proud of!!

My dear Nazneen ,

- how can u say that parents of Gen category are earning lacs of Rupees monthly.

- how can u say that people who are against the reservation are spendthrift. u dont have rights to comment on others life and lifestyle

Second thing, Charity/ donation or humanity should not be imposed on people. How much one can donate is discretionery.

Its not a few extra bucks Mam, and what we are paying from our hard earned money is already much higher than the normal fees.

and above all we are more worried about the no. of seats left  for GEN category after this 25% reservation.

WE CAN THINK OF ANY OTHER ISSUE ONCE OUR CHILDREN GET ADMISSION IN SCHOOL WHICH IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE IN THIS RESERVATION SYSTEM

Perfectly true Bhawna. You have expressed a very important aspect of the general category people. With the current reservation policies of the govt. I feel that it is General category who is facing the problem in all aspects, getting admissions in schools and colleges or jobs!

I agree with Dr. Sushma Bhardwaj completely. There is a good number of govt. schools in Delhi, probably one in every locality. The number of good private schools is much less in their comparison. Instead of victimizing the general category parents by hiking the fee, govt. should do something about raising the standards of these govt. schools. We are already disturbed by the confusion caused over the admission process this year, this fee hike would add to the disappointment caused. I read all this and feel so disheartened. I have heard from my elders that the only thing we can give our kids is good nutrition and good education. BUT HOW???

Hi fellow parents...
very valid points by all of you...
(it seems now that at least it was somewhat less stressful in NCR this year than what's happening with NCT parents)....

i think Govt. can force pvt. schools to raise fee for the management quota students they have rather than put the onus on General category students.Students of General category go through all screening process and even after that if they have to face up with abnormal increase of tuition fee, it will be quite unjustified. It's not the fault of middle class to be more educated or striving hard to be economically sound because India is what today in terms of a growing economy is mostly because the relentless efforts of this middle class which is termed as General and is victimized now and then in terms of excess public taxes.
Let the Govt. devise some formula where the pvt. schools are reimbursed a definite percentage (more than what is inferred from RTE act) of the extra amount spent on the EWS category. Rest part should be left to the schools to let them effectively manage themselves by pruning their operational cost or the unnecessary overheads.Schools must learn their role in it and not just go for extra fee hike everytime they come across with shortage of funds.
