Alumni Quota Points AGAINST RTE SPIRIT- as per my interpretation - PLS GIVE YOUR VIEWS HERE

Dear Parents

Yesterday i raised this point on delhi aajtak  live show in front of principal springdales  that Alumni point is discrminatory  and she was blank did not have answer

My observations

RTE says you cannot do the profiling of kid on basis of parents education and income

But when we talk of alumni it means the parents is at least educated till 12 grade

so here discrimation is obvious between uneducated parents and educated parents

this suits schools the why this point is kept against RTE spirit

i personaly feel its like adding education poits

THEN WHY EDUCATION POINTS ARE NOT BEING CONSIDERED

PLEASE GIVE YOUR TAKE

Agreed. Giving points for Alumni reduces chances for GEN category

One should ask the underlying objective of each point category. Neighborhood is to minimize distance of travel of students, girl child to encourage girl education etc. But there is no "rational or just" way to define an objective for alumni point category.

yes Mr.Vohra u r rite alumini makes the discrimation b/w educated and uneducated parents which is against RTE so it should be elminated this gives a better chances of gaining some more percentage of seats in general category.

Thanks a lot Sumit Ji for taking our voice across to Ministry of Education.

Yes We all agree that there is a flaw as regards Points for Alumni, as ii is in clear contradictiction of the provisions laid in the Right To Education Act. We would all request Mr. Lovely to please take an action in this regards and ask the school authorities not to consider the points as regards Alumni in the process of Admissions.

aparna we concur

Completely agree with you. Why should a child be at a disadvantage and deprived of an equal opportunity to get admission simply because his/ her parent did not study in that school? This is pure discrimination and goes against the spirit of the RTE.

Please, Please Please take some actions for the concern of Parent Community.

Sure Aparna we are working on it

Giving Alumni point means School want to put less effort to Impart there culture and discipline to kids since if they get children of parents who have already studied in there school then there is high chances that Parents will be imparting similar culture and discipline in there kids in line to school. This again is not in line with sentiments of RTE since this discriminate between Gen category and this category which will be for sure have a good Educated parents backing which is confirmed and will be very much in line with the school

Very well said harneet

Totally agree with you.alumini points shud not be given
