We had applied in 7 schools in Dwarka (DPS, Mount Carmel, Bal Bharti, BGS, Modern Convent, NK Bagrodia, VIS-Sec 10) for our only daughter. We were lucky enough to get through Bal Bharti, BGS, pending draw at N K Bagrodia and waitlisted at Modern Convent). We could not make though DPS, Mount Carmel, VIS-Sec 10.

Though we were lucky, we still feel that this point system is total crap. The biggest irony was that despite the point system, schools were given liberty to allocate points under each heading.

Take for example, DPS Dwarka had 25 points (within Dwarka) and 20 points (outside dwarka). Does this mean DPS Dwarka welcomes students from as far as Saket, RK Puram etc which still have DPS around there? I fees Bal Bharti and NK Bagrodia (from Dwarka schools) had the best distance criteria.

Though even we feel lost on the sibling points (as we have only daughter), we still feel sibling points are justified as the parents should be able to put children in one school rather than hunting the city all over again.

Gender points are a crap (though we benefitted in that category). They could put a 40% resv for girls and 60% for boys (or something like that), first born boys are the real sufferrers.

Many schools will have a gender disparity now (where girls will outnumber boys).

Overall, the transparency at Bal Bharti, NK Bagrodia, DPS Dwarka was good as they have called parents for draw (unlike Mount Carmel which conducted the draw on its own)

I think I  have committed a crime by giving birth to a boy.  Could not get admission in any of 15 schools.  Seriously hope that this point system can do one thing positive i.e. lowering the rate of female foeticide in Delhi

We have applied to 12 schools and got thru only one even though she is our eldest. What i dont understand is how can it be that so many havent been able to secure admissions despite trying at so many schools? It looks like there is a huge flaw in the system. Are there not enough seats in the schools in Delhi? I'm totally boggled...it cant just be a flawed point system that is the cause of this, can it? because from the looks of it..whichever criteria is used the same no. of people would have come off without seats.

I would like to inform you that in Dev Samaj Modern school Sukhdev Vihar, all selected candidates for nursery in general category are girls (more than hundred seats). Even a single boy could not get place in the list.

Only very few boys could get seat in EWS category.

I applied in 21 schools but I could not find place even in a single school.

KAASH.......... I WOULD HAVE BEEN A FATHER OF A GIRL CHILD.

How Can I describe the pain of not getting my child selected to any school in spite of having applied for 8 schools. Even not got my lad listed in the selected Nursery applicants list of the school which is just 200 meters away from my home.

His only fault is that he is not a girl child, his no brother and sister studying in the school.

My fault is that, I could not jugaad a transfer certificate, though I am not recently transferred to this.

So it is not a matter of affordability

Where is Right To Information (RTE) ?

So I am looking back to Good Old Govt. Schools !!

A revolution is yet to come a big way in Education.

I really donot know what to do ?

I am thinking of starting my Own School after all it is the most lucrative business !!!

we filled 6 forms for r son but haven't got thru in even one of them. Not even in the school of which my husband is an alumni. reservation as in EWS is unfair at entry level to education system. Reservation at any level for any kind of system has always been unfair and now it is not sparing little kids too. the point system isn't fair...WHAT IS OUR EDUCATION MINISTER DOING????????
Mr Lovely... You are pain in the ass...
I am a mother of first boy, not single, no alumini, no siblings(as i was single child), me & my hubby dont have govt job,& not belongs to EWS a simple middle class family....................................,,,,, then vat to do?...keep my son at home or send him in a govt school(only with good approach)........

The Govt. is playing with our child's future. They have given the schools a free hand to take admissions at the mercy of the school management.

I suppose no school took a confirmed admission of the first born boy child.

We should take some action against this process where in thousands of parents are hanging in the delimma of where to send their kid for studies.

I have not even lost points but also admissions in schools coz i have a boy child .... HAVING A BABY BOY APPEARS TO BE A CRIME THESE DAYS ....
this is very true ...even i have two daughters but completely agree with this point.....there should have been no points based on the sex of the child......we were called for a draw of lots in a very reputed school in rohini n to my shock all were girls candidates.... n out of almost 360, 50 were selected for final admission ....... isn't it surprising....
