Nursery norms: Parents protest

New Delhi: Parents struggling with the nursery admission procedure in the city have decided to raise their voice. They are likely to hold a protest outside the directorate of education on Wednesday and submit a memorandum to the education director. They will also highlight problems faced at individual schools relating to draw of lots, point system and discrepancy in the results.
“Nearly 200 parents have confirmed participation for a peaceful protest at 11.30am. They are expected to be dressed in black. They have hundreds of complaints and have now decided to come out and highlight their problems,” said Sumit Vohra, founder of an online forum for parents seeking admission for their threeyear-olds.Vohra said many schools were not transparent in the admission process. While one school in GK-II rejected candidates with higher points but selected those who had scored less, another school in Hauz Khas conducted a draw of lots without calling parents. “Government has hardly taken any punitive action against erring schools. There should also be a regulatory body and a uniform point system,” Vohra said. TNN

Herr are 7-8 points for apj pp :

1. The application form was too expensive Rs 400 and that too online. first take the security code from school by despositing Rs 400, the fill the form online and then again come to school to submit the hardcopy.

2. They asked about achievments of parents and grandparents too !!!! This is rediculous.

3. They did not ever tell that there will be lottery and even if the lottery took place why didnt they displayed on notice board of school or website or informed the parents on email.

4. I dont understand there mechanism of doing the application process online.

5. There is no transparency in their system, they did not tell anything to us. How can a lottery be done without inviting parents. If they have invited PTA members, everyone knows that PTS members will always go by school management.

6. There waiting list has 21 students, why 21 and not 20 or 30. 21 figure looks like some fraud is there,

I request you to please take an appropriate action on this school and put the admissions on hold and re-start the admision process for this school.
