Dear Sumitji,

Need your advice and suggestion. I have got my daughter admitted to NK Bagrodia, Rohini. I have also got her through GD Goenka, Rohini. Am a bit confused, whether I have taken the right decision or not. GD Goenka is a more famous and flashy school, but is also expensive. Money is though not that big of a criteria on choosing the other one. One other advantage is NK Bagrodia is much more closer to my house (around 1.5KM) as compared to Goenka (around 8KM).

Help me in clearing my confusion please.

@nkbps is much better any day.....teachers keep changing in goenka

Thanks Stuti.. and what about VGS?
VGS is too snobbish and money minded from whatever interaction I've had with them. They do not seem to encourage interaction with parents. Also, their play area is all concrete and doubles up for their assembly ground. There's a small green patch in front - not sure what kids do there. But they have only till the 8th currently. Don't know where the senior kids would go to play once they're there till 12th. Give it a miss if you've got through in any other good school like Bagrodia!

dont u think n k bagrodia is full of jaatsssssssssss

no communication in english

@ Rahul: :))))) this is a first one for me on Bagrodia. Frankly, I don't know about the Jat bit - but I do know a non-Jat South Indian parent who's extremely happy with the school. If you have a different take, do share your experience for the benefit of  the community members. I am aware that they have an excellent table tennis and badminton team. Mt Abu it is rumored has the best cricket team in the zone!

@Anand

Ok may be u r right my friend, But when i visited the school for admission i found all the admin full of jats and all the communication was in haryanvi language and i saw mostly jaats there. so i was worried what my child gonna learn in such school although acadamically it is good but what abt overall personality development.  I am sorry my first impression was very bad...........may be i am wrong.

@ Rahul: Then you could be right! Please use your discretion .. I have not visited the school during school hours. My knowledge is only hearsay .. not first hand. Thanks for your useful feedback.

@ Rahul and Anand

When I visited the school, I found some of the Jat type people (nothing against Jats though), but they were mostly in the EWS. We have to accept the fact that we will have our children studying with a very diversified group of people from all sectors and different calibre now and in future as well.

I also am having apprehensions about the overall personality development of my child, however, you can't guarantee English speaking children at any school. I have seen children in our apartment from VGS also, but didn't find them any different from others. In fact I interacted with the students of Bagrodia, and I found them smart and happy with the school. Agreed, if you compare with other schools, infra wise this may not be that flashy as some others. But I still think its worth a try.

@Abhishek: Good observation there! Thanks for the reminder .. I suppose the environment in schools is set to change from this year onwards

Yeah ture Anand. I read in the newspaper today that some parent complained that she couldn't get her child in any of the 18 schools she applied to, whereas her driver's child was asking her opinion to choose between some of the schools where he got his child admitted.. what an irony!!!

Mr. Lovely/ Congress wants that the EWS children (read vote bank) should study in public non-aided schools at the cost of others, and others should get their child to MCD schools, because those schools are not as per the standards of the EWS.

I get shivers, thinking 14 years ahead, on the situation when we would again be struggling to get our wards to some engineering/ medical or other colleges.

@ Abhishek: 14 years? The situation today is scary as such. The topper of CET in Chennai could not get through in Warangal due to regional and SC/ST/OBC seats. Every year, the newspapers scream about how General candidates could not get through the IITs whereas the reserved candidates who scored negative marks made it through! This is reality .. save now (for donations) or ship out (of the country)!
