Heartiest Congratulations and Thanks for your Kind Words :)

Same question from mine too My son got selected in Somerville , Cambridge and vbps but we r still confused which one is to choose as principal mam herself cleared that we Focus only on academics ... And we want to add some extracurricular activities add to his curriculum ... Very confusing what to do

Hello Neha,

We have been talking to parents of children attending schools like cambridge , somerville etc and all of them tell us to go for Somerville(even those whose wards are studying in cambridge N).. We have also tried contacting one of the parents whose child started nursery last year in Somerville and he has posted his reply in the Somerville group. Somerville has eca but no swimming, horse riding etc. One of my apartment neighbour told me that there are online classes happening for arts, music etc in Somerville during these covid times.

Hope this helps.

Anjali, yesterday when we were at Somerville for our interaction we witnessed one set of parents shouting at the accounts while submitting the fees. They were angry as the classes were not happening. I know it's not wise to form an opinion based on 1 dissatisfied parent. But, you do tend to get cautious after witnessing such cases.

I completely agree with you Akansha. Even after selecting the school and starting with the classes, there would always be this doubt in our minds if we have selected the best school for our child and not regret leaving another school in which our child got selected. And also we cant block seat in every school that has selected us as its not practical.

So keep asking around and then take a decision..and hope for the best :)

That doubt will always be, till the time kid's settle in. What are your views on Somerville infrastructure? I somehow found the building a little compact with no source of direct sunlight and fresh air. A very small playground with hardly any swings. But, academic wise they have credibility. I am so unsure, whether to go ahead basis their track record or to give some weightage to the other factors also.

Hi Akanksha

That's what we have also noted yesterday the infrastructure was not that much gud ...and  with this they are charging near about 11000 of monthly fees which we cannot deny while selecting the school .. very confusing situation ... But still we have to decide .

Hi,

We too have selected Somerville over BBPS and Cambridge, infact have submitted fees at BBPS to block our first seat. So, loosing another 35K while withdrawing from BBPS. A lot has been already said about infrastructure and ECA in Somerville but i have taken feedback from quite a few sources including the Play school Principal in which our Son was going before lockdown. Parents of even Cambridge who openly said Somerville being better. I believe academics shall be given first preference cuz at the end of the day this is what schools are meant for. We can of course engage our kids in any activity even after school hours if we see that potential but cant do vice versa for academics. just my personal opinion. Overall, school has enough activities to groom kids to best of their potential. Parents may  read Somerville's Yearly Magazine "Reflections" available at school website to get an insight.

I agree with Himanshu..I was also going through Somerville's Yearly magazine and could see the various inter school competitions the children have won along with the several well written articles from children of all ages..

Akansha, we visited the cambridge junior wing and didnt find a proper playset for smaller children(this is our opinion and it could vary as per others). Also Somerville classes are air-conditioned as opposed to Cambridge(also VBPS i think as seen from the photos) so Cambridge needs to have open and proper ventilated classrooms so that our children dont suffer from the dreaded summer heat..if you would have noticed the play area for the nursery and kg classes in Somerville is seperated from the main area. Everyone has different expectations from a school..Since our children are so young , our emphasis is on good foundations.

Please keep discussing with others and do let us know what decision you take :)

Are Somerville classes airconditioned? I didnt notice that. Is it centrally airconditioned? I did saw the air purifiers in the classes but not the air conditions.
