Forms over before admissions begin

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/gurgaon/Forms-over-before-a...

GURGAON: As registration forms for nursery admissions are out in Gurgaon schools, parents are making a beeline to the administrative offices of various schools. Most schools in the city have adopted the 'first come first served' policy as far as admissions are concerned.

Although schools have started selling forms a week before the date of registration, parents complained that forms were declared out of stock in some of the schools on the first day.

According to the sources in Heritage School, the sibling category applications for this year have been 50% higher than previous years, thereby reducing their general seats for nursery admissions. "We usually expect around 35-40 candidates for sibling category, whereas this time we've already received 70 applications. There are 100-120 general seats, a part of which will now go to sibling category," said Dr Mahesh Prasad, principal, Heritage School.

Niti Kaushik, principal, K R Mangalam World School, denied that forms were sold out. "Even though we don't select by draw of lots but we give as many forms as possible and usually there are over a 1,000 applications. After registration closes, parents and children are called for a personal interview conducted over several days and finally we choose 130 children for the upcoming nursery session," said Kaushik.

On the other hand, some schools including Shikshantar refused to comment on the number of seats available and the applications given out. "We conduct a draw of lots so it's always a fair procedure. The forms start rolling out in the first week of September and parents usually keep a tab on the date of sale," said a spokesperson from Shikshantar.

Parents, meanwhile, have been running around from one school to the other, collecting as many admission forms as possible because most of them are not certain whether their child will make it to a good school or not. "The child is so young that neither can we gauge his talents nor train him in any way. Thankfully, with the draw of lots system there's much more hope for parents," said Kanika Thuwal, a BPO executive and mother of two.

Some parents seem to be confused about admission strategies of different schools. "Even though spending weeks in advance to research on each school and gather their application forms on time, I still missed out on a couple of good ones as I was late," said Sanjay Saini, a freelance artist whose only child will get into nursery this year.

"Dear Editor,

I am running parents forum fighting for parents cause in delhi /ncr by the name of www.AdmissionsNursery.Com

I would like to bring notice i m fighting for parents cause ,have authored book on nursery admissions and have 30k parents on my forum

Point i want to make is schools in gurgaon are flouting RTE guidelines

1 Salwan school sec 5 gurgaon |Suncity school gurgaon have mentioned to bring parents child for interaction on their website

2 Salwan sec 15 is asking parents to come for interaction, both branches of salwan are asking for profession with 15 categories on their form regarding profession TOTALLY AGAINST THE RTE

3 Scottish high forms got sold of in 3 hrs on first day on 23th Aug(parents who had this as dream school got shocked)

most schools in Gurgaon asking kids to be brought for interaction, not only Salwan.
WHICH ALL?
I think mostly all schools which have interaction system in Gurgaon ask the child to be brought. Manav Rachna, KR Mangalam, Scottish, Suncity etc all require the child to be brought. And its very clearly written on their websites.
You are absolutely correct on that point, Gautam.
thanks :)

Dear All

I was told by media people due to anna hazare movement ..they have to wait to highlight  gurgaon admissions problem ..even anna's cause is bigger ..so lets hope for the best  !!
