In a clear violation of Delhi government’s guidelines that strictly ban any interaction of parents and children with the school authorities other than buying and submitting forms, a school in Dwarka has not only started the sale of forms but has also asked parents to take an appointment
“for an interaction with the principal”.
The school’s website clearly states that “the school prospectus along with the application form for the student is available at the school’s front desk… The prospective student must accompany his or her parent/ guardian on the day of submission of the form in school. A prior appointment for interaction with the principal needs to be taken on the day of submission of the form.”
When HT called up Paramount International School, Dwarka, to enquire about the admission process, we were asked to visit the school to buy the form and were also told to take an appointment for the interaction. Attempts made to reach the principal and the media coordinator proved futile.
But Paramount International in not the only school that is selling forms. Dwarka International School, too, has started the process and the forms are available in the school office. No reaction from the school was received despite sending an email that the school had demanded.
Many other schools, which had previously opened admissions, have put off the process till the guidelines are released.
“Some action should be taken against the offenders as the parents are being directly affected by this confusion,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com, a portal for parents. Though Delhi education minister Arvinder Singh has said that the guidelines will remain the same and the final decision will come out on December 14 when the court will take a decision on the minimum age for nursery.
