As per the order, the admission process will start with the sale and submission of formsfrom January 2 and the last date for receipt of applicationsisJanuary 16.By February 1, schools will have to display the first list of selected students and also the waiting list. In case there is a second list, theschoolswilldisplayitby February 29.
WhileDoEhas alloweddeviation in the schedule in ‘specific circumstances’, the order states that no changes will be allowed in the dates for commencement and closure of admissions. In case of deviation, the schools have to intimate the reasons toDoEby December 31,2011.

The Delhi education department has given schools a free hand in conducting nursery admissions yet again.
Guidelines for students under the general category will remain the same as last year as the education minister has kept his word and not changed anything. As per this year’s
guidelines, 25% of all seats will have to be reserved for students from the economically weaker sections. Out of the remaining 75%, a maximum of 20% may be reserved for the school’s management quota. The age criteria, which the Delhi High Court is reviewing, will remain the same.
Education minister Arvinder Singh said the Ganguly Committee’s recommendations are being followed when it comes to minimum age for admission to pre-primary.
“Pre-primary is one class before primary education. In Delhi, for schools that have both nursery and kindergarten classes, the age for admission is 3+. Whereas, for those schools that have only nursery, this age is 4+. We are following the recommendations,” he said.
Like last year, schools will be free to decide the criteria on which they will admit students. But all schools will have to follow the Right to Education Act guidelines. “No school will be allowed to ask any questions about salary or educational background of parents. Only in the case of EWS students, an income proof will be required. No schools will be allowed to screen or interview children or parents,” Singh said.
Last year, most schools had selected students on points for neighbourhood, sibling in same school, alumni, single parents and transfer cases. But there is some relief for parents who fail to fit in these categories. At least 15% of the seats will be filled through the lottery system.
The admission process for EWS students has, however, undergone a complete change.
The directorate of education has devised a common admission form for EWS students that can be downloaded from the website edudel.nic.in or collected from schools. The form will be completely free of cost.
The guidelines have elicited mixed reactions from parents.
“Parents have all expressed their disillusionment. The free hand to schools is not a fair move,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com a forum for parents

what is the age now for nursery....is it still under process.
what would be the criteria, if the child is born on 3rd April 2008, bcoz on 31st March his age will not come under the category of 4+. please advice........
Age criteria would be confirmed on Dec 21st. If 3+ then your child will be eligible for nursery or pre-school. If it is 4+ and your child won't be eligible for Pre-Primary (Prep) or KG.
Lets do some maths: assume a school with 100 seats;
25 seats goes to EWS.
15 seats for management quota (maximum).
60 seats for general public ( 9 seats through lottery and 51 on points).
i feel 15 seats to management is too high. Now that seats are just about Half, i have to increase the number of applications even more. Lottery is even more speculative and can be manipulated by management due to lack of transparency.
Very good Maths calculation and no second list which would be converted to management seats.
Gagan, sorry 60 seats are not for General public! There is a 20% reservation for siblings, 5% for Staff and approx 15% for Alumni. Roughly 20% may fall under General Category with preference for neighbourhood, girl child single parent and transfer case. Estimate about 5 seats for a general category male child!
check out the bracket, i did wrote 51 seats on basis of points. yes if you categorize those further it will be lie you said.
We all are waiting to hear on Age factor which is still not clear. Such kind of confusion is creating frustration amongst the parents before the admission process.
is it true sakshi that the schools issue the admission forms and distribute it on first come first serve basis and within first 2-3 days, the form distribution process is complete. That means , for parents like us, where both the parents are working, we should be taking leave from 02 - 05 january 2012, in order to collect the forms of the desired schools
