Sakshi,

Two quick questions:
1. Do the parents have to be physically present during draw of lots?
2. In case they aren't able to be present, can they authorize someone from the family to be present?

I would like to add one more question:
what if there are 10 draws on a single day? how the hell we are gonna manage the same to be present in every draw and if we are not present in a particular school and in that school child is selected?? than what will happen??

Sakshi ji Please reply??

Truly said by Mr. Duggal. Somebody should raise this point in the ministry. Let us see what our hon'ble education minister does for the same.

That's going to happen. Some schools take this opportunity to reject the kids whose parents are not present. Education Minister should detail it out clearly how practically the lot for 15% is feasible.

Even though it is not compulsory for parents to be present at draw, many schools ask them to be present and it is school specific. It is good if either parents be at draw. Some schools verify documents before draw to reduce the number of lots.

What does 15% seats by draw of lot means ???? Does this mean even if a childs hasn't got the minimum eligible points he will qualify for admission by draw of lots ???

How fare this draw of lot will be ???? Is it compulsory for all schools to select 15% general candidates by draw of lots ???

Hi Amit, if a school has 100 seats and you are a NANSNEWB (Non Alumni/sibling/EWS/boy child) - 15 seats would be the maximum number of seats you may be competing for. This would obviously be lower but certainly no more! This is assuming you get full neighbourhood and first child points, all other things being equal. So no, you do not get to the draw by default!
The draw of lots is hopefully fair in the more established schools where the draw takes place in front of parents and is recorded. The truth may however vary! Finally, schools may give 0 seats to General candidates if they so wish. Hope this clears all your queries!

Thanks anand.... for the reply. Infact I am NANSNEWB then what should I do ???

Hi Amit, unfortunately that's the catch 22 situation and I'm stuck in it too. So ultimately, even after having all this big discussion & fight on admission criteria and stuff, ultimately, people like you and me don't stand any fair chance to apply for prestigeous schools like Sanskriti, DPS, Vasant Vally, Mother's International because of our Non-alumni, no sibling, no neighbourhood & no EWS status. So, what was happening 3 years back is happening even now, the only difference being that during that time, one still had a chance if he had some top level approach or money to spend. So if you only have a school with poor track record in your neighbourhood, that's your only option! And if you are an alumni of some school which still has not been able to generate a good track record(all the more reason to stay away from such school), that again is a choice for you, nothing more.

And there would plenty of like us....... so does this mean we don't have a right to get our kid admitted in a good school since we wouldn't able to do so.......

I feel governement should consider this....but poor govt. everyone in this country is available for cash be it education or our so called systems....

if i shell out some good amount of money (which I don have) i can easily get my son admitted in any good school of my choice !!!

If anyone has noticed, all the most sought after schools are situated in plush localities (DPS/ Springdales/ Sanskriti/ Bal Bharti/ Vasant Valley/ Mother's International), so neighbourhood points are indirectly favouring those who already have affluent background. Alumni points again, if one has been an alumni, most probably, his family must have spent a lot of money to get him admitted in that school, and most certainly, he must be well settled by now, so again an indirect screening method. Sibling criteria indirectly means most siblings are having gap of around two years, when this RTE was not applicable, so again another indirect screening method the way it was done for first child who was admitted before RTE.

Well Said Mr. Saxena. You have hit the nail. we are living in pseudo secularist country under a corrupt leadership and if you belong to a simple middle class family but have dreams to send their children to good and so called reputed schools, you can very well forget about it cause: " Bharat desh maahan 100 mien 99 beimaan"...... This useless govt. will not do anything....
